I don't understand what you are asking........ Drift is Drift There are differences between Touge and Circuit as far as technigues but you still have to drive the car.
Touge is the Japanese word for Mountain Pass it contains the kanji for mountain and up and down. This is not a car specific word but it is used to describe hauling *** on mountain roads and numerous people do Touge without Drifting.
Don't know why I am saying this but just wanted to explain it.
Back to your question......... Do I think the good ole days of just driving on a road and messing around is better or do I think the Glamour Dog and Pony show is better??? Well I really like D1......Alot Touge stuff is fun and Scary as hell sometimes but lots of people go and sit around or make up stories about things they never done so I like the professional side of Driving more than the others. However D1 itself is a little glamourized and the judging is a little fishy sometimes but other venues of Top level drift are much more attainable. If you seriously want to prove something to yourself and the world the Pro Venue is your only option.......If not the keep playing around on the streets or whatever and enjoy you life.

I have total respect for D1 and all top level drifters. It's just not my thing. I've been backroad drifting, but never in any copetition capacity. I may never enter a comp, I have no desire to really. I was just asking which brand of drifting everyone is into.

i think a fair mix of both.... d1 is when you want to push yourself and when you are happy with an accomplishment why not showboat? its human nature to be happy about something cool youve done.
but then theres times when not as much just like touge drift but driving in general like... learning your car, they are honestly like an attachment to your feet and hands. so touge isnt as much trying to swing it out as far as you can or trying to scrape your bumper its more of just you and the car aginst the road and turns
