This is a little survey that Drift Tengoku magazine did at Ebisu circuit for 50 people. Asking who uses steering parst such as aftermarket tie Rods, knuckles and so on. It seems to be an even split but more people have normal steering racks than not.

Sorry I should have explained it more.



Question 1 are you using aftermarket parts for quick response steering?? 21 peeps YES and 29 peeps NO.



Question 2 What parts are you using? From the top



pillow tension rod---13 peeps all nissan drivers

Tie rod Washer---- 12 peeps only one FC driver

Longer aftermarket tie rods--- 4 peeps.....all nissan drivers

Upper arms---- 3 peeps

to control arms--- 2 peeps

longer lower arms--- 2 peeps----one is a hachi roku



Question 3 what front tire do you use?





I hope all that makes sense.........LOL It is interesting to see what other guys use but what is more interesting is to see them drive knowing what is on the car!

Got some cameber plates a while back. Finally got them set up. Man the car feels much better now with 2.5 negative camber and 1.5 degree increase in caster steering response have improved a lot. Can go for more but I like to keep it street friendly.

Here is a "japanese" version of modified knuckles. made a little different from the ones DJgiantrobot posted in another thread...... Comments anyone??

its basically the same thing, but the one worrying thing is that i am not certain they have left the tie rod on the same plane as it was originally. It kinda looks like they just hacked it off and welded it back on, this could create some bump steer problems if nothing else. Also once its done, its done, no going back to the original setup. I like having two sets, are there any multitude of people running these in japan right now?

I would say no there are not a lot of people in Japan running these right now. I think some drifters do but honestly when you posted those pictures it was the first time I had seen them For the most part people are not using these "steering enhancers" In D1 you will see everything under the sun because they have to pull out all stops to win.



I want to try something just because I am an aggressive driver and I am on the gas too much, this would keep me from having the *** end pass the front so much.



Right now I am having fun with the fact that I just put rigid mounts on the engine and transmission.........unbelievably different!!! also upgrade from a 5 point to a 7 point rollcage. car is much more responsive lets me feel every quirk of the tires.

I can see how changing the mounting point inward towards center on the steering knuckle will increase the amount the wheel will turn. But how does adding washers or aftermarket pieces like these do it? Do they just change the angle of the tie rod?

basically when you put a washer in between the tie rod and the gearbox it is the same as lengthening the shaft portion of the gear box which increases the amount it will push the tie rod.



It is real confusing when you think abou it. The parts you have pictured here are pillow ball monts and what looks like and extension for the tie rod. The pillow ***** replace the stock joints which have lots of play and them and will allow you to have more accurate responsive steering. The longer portion for the tie rod will do what we mentioned above.
