Ya, I remember going to an autox in gainsville where some POS that thought he was running the show, made everyone change their tires in the grass and dirt because he didn't think we should be on the little side road that runs down the parking lot. What a fukin moron. That whole even was a cluster ***. In the first group alone there were about 10 dnf's because people didn't know what the *** was going on with the track.

I agree with AMRX7 -- while what happened to you was a bummer, a lot of this thread reads like sour grapes. "This bad thing happened to me once, so obviously the SCCA sucks."
It's very possible that your region got a sound complaint at their last event and was thus compelled to start enforcing a dB limit. It is pretty arbitrary to have someone ban you by ear instead of a sound pressure level meter, but that's a separate issue.
Did you make yourself available for clue reception? Were you checking the event website and/or monitoring your local club mailing list? If so, then again, what happened to you is a bit harsh, but if you weren't, and can't say for certain that they didn't announce the enforcement of this rule via those mediums, then in my opinion you don't really have much right to complain.

I interpret what happened to him to be Rotary prejudice. It happens a lot. I had over heard some big wigs discussing my brothers GXL at an event. Something along the lines of "I am sick of listening the that thing make all that noise, cant we enforce the sound issue?" Unfortunatly for them I heard them and pointes out the guy running the sprint car that was every bit a loud as my brothers GXL.
I was in the inner circle for a little while at our local events. It turned me off to the SCCA. If the big wigs decide they dont like someone they will screw with them to an extent. I saw it happen.
I also got to take runs on the sunday course on saturday evening along with about 6 or 7 of the "dedicated" workers who put so much time into the events and felt it was justified to drive the course about 12 times the night before. We all trophied on Sunday. I did that once trying to convince myself it was fair because I would be too busy to walk the course on Sunday.
I am no longer in the inner circle since I got my son involved with his race kart. I dont have time to volenteer like I used to and because I dont volenteer as much and just do my assigned course work I am not invited to play with the big wigs.
I have been through this on another forum. I have seen the "attitude" of dedicated SCCA members mirrored on that website to those I have had to deal with in person. Your everybodies pal until you start to win. I have been told by SCCA big wigs on the RX-7 forum that I should not brag about winning with my RX-7 its dis-tasteful. I just wonder if these people read the kills section of the RX-7 forums. Thats loaded with dis-tasteful RX-7 victories. I guess thats o.k. though.
I am trying to find local venues for my son to race his kart and I plan on sticking with open track days with Chin Motorsports and the Porsche BMW club.
When it all boils down all I care about is driving. I dont give a **** about the stupid little trophy at the end of the day I just want to drive my car fast and for more that 3 or 4 minutes.
Autocross is good for developing driver skills once you master that the only reason I feel people stick around is to try to prove something.
Good luck in your battle Banzai, personally I would look into other venues to drive my car at.

Like I said, I am going to the board meetings to voice my concerns. I am also involved in setting up an AUTO-X in the CSRA Region of GA-SC. It is not a bunch of "Sour Grapes". I was disqualified/barred from running in a manner inconsistant with the regions rules. I was not provided "due justice" or a chance to correct the violation.
Am I pissed: YES!

That does suck! If you are still experimenting on Mufflers try the Aerospeed bombs. They are loud until you put the silancers in. The hole is about 1" in diameter but they are very quiet.
When I put the silencer in on my Apexi N-1 it is quiet too. No sound hardly at all.
I know it will cut your power but at least you could race still.
Ever consider throwing the cat back on? Or saving for a high flow cat?
