My car is being setup for mostly AutoX, track day, and hill country driving. I'm having a difficult time picking a better seat for use in the car. I'm about 6'2" and 220lbs. I'm concerned without sitting in them to determine if they fit me well, I'll end up wasting a significant amount of money.

Do any of you who do similar driving and are around my size have any suggestions? I would prefer having a reclinable seat, but am open.

Also, if anyone has a suggestion on a good 4-pt harness it would be appreciated also.

I bought the black corbeaus that they used to sell on here. They were around $500 and reclined. I did have to do some modification to make them fit and for me to fit. The brackets were close to the stock holes but I cut and rewelded them to fit. I had to cut out an inch of foam in the seats so that my head would not hit the ceiling. I'm 6'1". It was some work but i'm happy. I have some pictures on my site if you need a reference.

Kirkey's intermediate road race seat. They're available in several sizes and you can choose your seat cover colour. If you are worried that you might be too big - circle track guys tend to be a bit soggy around the middle and the Kirley seats seem to do a fine job of holding their fat-asses w/o breaking. In my experience, they're pretty comfy and seem to be made really well. Check 'em out & see if anyone in your SCCA or NASA region has a Kirkey seat that you can sit in during a fun run.

FWIW: Real race seats don't recline. I had a Cobra seat that reclined and what a POS that was... OE seats have to undergo many federal crash tests and safety guidelines. They're safe and they're heavy. With an aftermarket seat, as with any facet of life, there are trade-offs. You want light weight? You lose safety or comfort (recline function) or both.

You buy Kirkey's by size, and there's instructions on their site about sizing. I bought an economy layback for my FP car (still under construction) from Summit. Keep an eye out for a special and you can pick them up relatively inexpensive - and there's no question about safety with a Kirkey. The downside with Kirkeys is thast they are a racing seat and not built for cross-country (or cross state) trips.
