I was wondering how many of you drift your N/A fc, and what you've done to it. Mine is still in the works and I'm still looking for inspiration.

Seppuku 02-01-2004 02:48 AM

I drift in my 88 vert sometimes, havent had a chance to in a while though. I just have the basic peformance mods done to it. Im working on some other things though. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/happy.png

BlackHeart702 02-01-2004 04:34 AM

What do you have in mind? I cant decide if I want a shock/ spring combo or go balls out and get some Tein HE's. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

Seppuku 02-01-2004 04:52 AM

for suspension i'll probably go with the k2rd coilover setup but itll be a little while.

'79rx7 02-01-2004 07:36 PM

I drift my n/a SA, and my buddy drifts his 87 sport model all the time...

BlackHeart702 02-02-2004 07:30 AM

Cool, haven't seen many SA22C drifters. What kinda suspension ya got?

mazdadrifter 02-02-2004 08:42 AM

I drift my n/a, but not always on purpose. At autox driving schools the ass gets happy and you end up at lock a couple times each run when your pushing it.

my setup is ground control coil overs 450lb in the front, not exactly sure in rear, maybe 325 or 275, kyb adx shocks racing beat front sway bar in front, cusco strut tower bars in front and rear, and a cusco traingular bar in rear. camber plates up front and the camber link in the rear.

It's kind of funny w/ this particular setup because all you have to do to change from drift to grip is change your setting on the rear shocks. soft for grip, hard for drift. found that out the hard way. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683473.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif

Where's you get your Ground Controls from, if you don't mind my askin?

FlamingGuts 02-06-2004 06:40 PM

yes sir

Yes.

With their stiff monochoche chassis, they are perfect for drifting.

on the other hand the sloppy suspension and the 2 1/2 turns to full lock make it much harder...correct me if im wrong but dont people replace them with miata front racks?

'79rx7 02-08-2004 10:49 AM

suspensions is mostly racing beat, springs, sway bars, adjustable a arms, and tokico illumina's; it only has about an inch of travel when the car is sitting so it's very stiff, almost unbearable to drive in town daily. As far as the steering goes i don't have any problems it predictable, and repsponsive.

I'm running MazdaSpeed coilovers, RB rear steer eliminator bushings, cusco camber plates, front and rear strut bars, and a four point roll bar. I have also upgraded my brake to 4 pistons T2 brakes with Brenbro rotors, Hawk pads, S/S lines, and Super Blue brake fluid. I'm still running the stock power steering in this car, as it is also my daily driver.

I am considering adding a wet NOS setup for some additonal kick.

You best believe I drift.... 82 FB --- soooo much fun in corners...

I think I enjoy getting one of my friends to come, then I start hitting corners they either love it or they are scared shitless...

Either way I have a blast....

I used to drift a first gen, sweet car, but wery twitchey. I would go with a low dampening rate to keep it predictable.

I have an 87 Turbo II, but I would give anything to own a GTUs! Maybe slap a supercharger on it... instant throttle and boost response... oh yeah https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

Dorifc3s 02-18-2004 12:08 PM

rite here..low angle drift specialty!

darkducati 03-02-2004 10:27 AM

RX-8 here. Though it does look really funny with my Mustang Bullitt rear wheels on it.

Dorifc3s 03-02-2004 01:57 PM

^ Whoa an RRX-8 drifting?!?! I gotta c this up close!

Ryu 03-02-2004 07:03 PM

i saw a guy drifting an 8 at the last autox. pretty cool sight.

only way i can get my car to drift when its dry is to hit the brakes hard while turning into the turn. then hard on the gas to keep the back out. i need to get an LSD and some crappier tires till i learn how to drift better. oh yeah, i only drift at auto-x events.
