Both came in AE85 with SOHC 1.5 and AE86 with DOHC 1.6 and good suspension. same cars, different lights. and front end...basically.

It does have a nice little engine, I was even considering using one in the Locoblade - nothing wrong with individual throttle bodies and 8500rpm, a crowd called RAW engineering over here can get em up to 200bhp with not a huge amount of effort - which is pretty decent.

I agree though they're not up to a huge amount when they're in a Levin (or Corolla twin-cam as they're called over here), as far as I can see the only thing special about them is the fact that they're RWD and came with a LSD.

The AE86 is a really good car to learn how to road race/drift with, solely for the fact that it is underpowered. It requires the driver to learn skill and technique to get the most out of that car. A good driver can make that car great.

However, Initial D-riceboys are jumping on the drifting bandwagon and trading in their Civics for Corollas, increasing the demand and skyrocketing the price of a 19yr old car to 5x times it's actual value. Thankfully, most haven't realized that the best deal out there is the FC.
