Just Came Back From Newbie Drift Event..
Well i got to see a lot of 240 with stock setups go off track. One Corrola was setup up with the brakes , motor , cage suspenion not to mention the WING was OK.
The best drifter was a guy who looked like Mike Nesmith(monkees) and was in the BuBBA Drifter club. His ride was a well prepped black El Camino that had a big *** roots style blower. That ability too left brake and thottle with out turbo lag was evident. Had good controle. Other than that......Boring. Man I was hoping some guys from Texas with experience would have shown up.

[quote name='Il RX8 lI' date='Mar 25 2005, 01:51 PM']American drifting events with American drifters are going to be boring until (if) drifting really catches on here stateside. If you want to get excited, go to the D1GP in Atlanta, I'm going.

The event that will be held in Atlanta is not a D1GP event, I believe it's a Formula D event. Different drivers, same concept.
Also, American drifting isn't boring, grassroots drifting is boring. Whenever you go to a small, grassroots-type drift clinic/session, whether it be in America OR Japan, you shouldn't be surprised to see a lot of novice type driving. That's probably because those people are still learning how, and don't necessarily have any prior racing expierience.

Sorry, I was thinking of Imamura and D1 and typed it wrong. All I know is that he wants excitement so I suggested he go to D1 or Formula D and he'll get his fix at one of those events. Grassroots drifting is extremely commonplace around my area, so I just go ahead and associate it with drifting not having strong enough of a foothold in America just yet. It'll come around though, I'm pretty sure of that.
here a pic of that dude......ya hoo! Oh and this guy was from Texas.
I of all people appreciate the learning experience. But under a hot sun with three cars at a time and trying to drift with a stock suspension. They dont get a fighting chance.
Its all good though.I might be the next newb out!

Just a few weeks ago, there was a drift event at the local cirlce track. I heard they actually paved an area through the center of the track to for a figure 8 just for the event. Unfortunatly my car wasnt ready in time, so i didnt make it.
Slowly but surely drifting is making itself evident, even in the small, podunk towns like mine.
