Out of curiousity, even if you did get the slower cars, would it really matter? You're there to earn your license and learn a few things, not to win a race. Am I correct? Other than that, yes, it sucks that the "big names" get the good cars, but who would the "big names" even be at such a low level? Celebrities?
I agree to an extent. The school though is a whole different ballgame. You are there to learn and win, bacause if you win you get a invited to a race series and they foot the bill, sort of.

I met a guy at Mazda-Rev-it-up whose father was in the skip barber series. He was always at the back of the pack. He was really discouraged thinking he wasn't as good as he thought. Then he saw the downloaded data logged car telemetry on a techs computer screen one day after a race. From what was explained to me there were cars there out accelerating everyone else at a rate that would give a definite advantage.

Thats why I would save my money and do a Rotary Rockets school. The Skip Barber School costs big money like $10K or more. The whole draw is the chance to win it all an race in a season series.

The big names at such a low level? Skip Barber is not low level. How many driver schools get the coverage that they do. Their races are on TV and they have articles about their races in Magazines like RACER. Names like Rutherford, Unser, Andretti, etc. You would be amazed how many cousins and cousins cousins there are. When I was at REv-it-up. Adam Andretti was instructing me there was also a Rutherford there. Those are the big names and its assured they will do well at the school. Once you win the school the big money people are the ones they want to race in their series.

Heres another little tidbit for you that will probably rock your world.

All winners are cheaters.

I am not bitter over that either. Its just a fact that you have to deal with. There is a whole lot more that just driving a car in racing.

My mechanic told me that and I got pissed at him. Then he gave me dozens of examples to prove his point. Its amazing.

yup, just like michelan was taking advatage of loop holes in the rules for Formula 1

they were never cheating, because there weren't rules that they were actually breaking.

"your not cheating until you get caught"

I don't think there was a law against the width of your tread growing 3/4 of an inch as the tire wears, so therefore they were just taking advatage of the rules.

But if you were paying attention when they started taking measurment befroe AND after the race michelan immediatley redesigned their tires!!!! and everyone thought ralph and montoya was the men, but they never won again after the rule change.

Yeah. Someone that is able to read into the rules rather than just reading them is a person you want on your team.

This is the guy I want on my team. You must go slow down to go fast. I instruct and will tell you every guy who goes ***** out with the intent of winning at some school crashes.ingorance comes out at high speed. The patient ,studious person will be the smoothest and fastest person on the track

That wasn't the point although I agree 110% with you.

The point is in the RACING SERIES the big names get the nicer cars. The School ends with a race to see who will win the scholership so in essance you must go all out and beat your classmates.

In the learning section of the school I agree but in the final race that goes out the window. There is a point where going slow is too slow. I have even learned that in Autocross. I was driving my TII at about 75% of its full potential all year long. Once I figured out there was more to get from the car I started becoming more of a threat in competitions.

I have always said Smooth is Fast if you feel like all hell is breaking loose in your car your probably not doing too well.

The most productive autocross school I ever attended was the one when my TII was in the shop and I used my borothers GXL. Everything was in slow motion even though we were turning out some really fast times with it. It was a civilized car and it gave me more time to setup for turns and to concentrate on actually driving not trying to control the beast.
