i heard that the FCs ebrake wont lock unless its fully stopped. that means that you cant use the ebrake to initiate a drift...



is this true?

 

i never had any problem, just push the clutch in as you do it.

 

Mine used to lock fine.

 

works fine for me ... but there are better ways to start a drift

 

Rx-7 ebrakes are what I call a "crappy" design. They do suck in comparison to other cars but if your cable is in good shape and your brake pads are in shape then it will work fine.

 

Mine is like, it won't lock if you are going straight, but if you are already turning (when you should be pulling the ebrake anyways) it locks up fine.





Yeah, and don't ebrake drift for long, hurry up and learn some new techniques!

 

I see a lot of 240 and Hachi drifters use ebrake but I never did. After reading this thread I gave it a try last weekend to see what it was like.

but dropping it into second and trying to powerover the a n/a car is kinda hard unless you feint or something that take less weight on the rear tires, why is ebrake so thrashed on just a question?

 

I didn't think of that... Whoops. Maybe I just need to work on my ebrake technique to add to my options.



Oh and I did not mean to thrash using the emergency brake by any means. I just didn't like it on my first try and never used it.

Using the E brake to initiate a drift has been frowned upon in Drift Competitions in Japan.......mainly D1. D1 becomes increasingly harder to rise to the top in so basically anything you can do to look aggressive and control the vehicle makes you look better. Pulling the ebrake is not an option in D1 or any competition really.



Using the Ebrake to control your drift while in progress is fine and most likely will not be seen by judges so it might be a good thing to have working on your car, especially in course out excursions... Anyway since most of you are not gonna compete and are just having fun or you are trying to get the hang of being sideways then by all means use it. A number of people understand car control and can drive what I call "reactionary" where you respond to what the car is doing after something occurs, like ripping the ebrake. For people like that.......this was me also... Starting out by using the side brake is a wonderful tool and lets you have fun while you practice other techniques to initiate a drift.



Its kinda like Training wheels so to speak. Everyone had training wheels on thier bikes but noone shows up to a bike race now with them on. So do what you gotta do but remember to be a Pro or look like one you gotta ween yourself off that.
