If you build it they will come.....................................

I am not on the east coast but I might be back there in 3-4 years then I would be there every chance I get.

I think biulding the place could be done cheap enough but insurance would be a killer. Oh yeah and make a road course not just a stupid *** slab of asphalt......this will open your options to something besides straight line and beginners pracitcing.

You wouldnt be much more then a big parkinglot.

Furry muff.

There is so much **** to set up for a track.

You'd prolly need surveyors for the track layout, then you lay the tarmac. Then theres all the maintenance, crash barriers, insurance, sponsors.

Then people bitch about the noise, so you need noise permits and **** like that.

I wish it was easy to do. If our track wasn't 45-50mins away and so f**king expensive, I wouldn't have to use the local streets as a drift course.

well, land is not a problem around here. Hell, I live in bumfuck Maryland, there are tons of spots to put it.

Im not saying my parents are going to go out and build a racetrack, but I am just throwing ideas around. I would have to do WAY more research to even think about developing a plan like this. I would most likley set up the course with cones in a huge tarmac, that way you wouldnt need barriors. DGTA has it set up this way in an existing parkinglot.

As for insurance, DGTA must have it, I am going to try and contact them to get as many details as i can. The local drag strip's insurance must be insane as well, but not too bad that it drives them out of busness.

i would think it would be better to wait 2 years or so depending on how americans take to the drifting circuit. so far so good but were getting ahead of ourselfs if were thinking of making a track made for the sport.

id definitely frequent the track along with a number of enthusiasts but i don't know how often being in NY and i don't think theres enough interest yet to yield a positive revenue

but find out more cause this is the kind of thing u get some partners together and some ***** and take a rick... might pay off

Man I don't know how it is around where you live, but here 45min to an hour away for a circuit to race at is close. On average we are travel 2.5-3.5 hours to go to our circuits at least once a month sometimes every weekend. Cost of the circuit is not really a problem I don't have a problem paying $120+ dollars to go race, its just the cost in tolls to get there and back that can eat you alive if you do it often. Ebisu Circuit is about 3.5 hours away(cruising up there not hauling) and roundtrip tolls is about 10000yen plus add about 10000yen or more in gas and food/drink for the day and your looking at around $200 in one day and you haven't even paid entry fees to get on the track yet. So consider yourself lucky to be 45 min to an hour away from your track.

NO $HIT! complaining about a track 45min away!?!?!?! WTF!?!?!

You should get some sponsors.

Find the land. (most expensive thing)

Plan your course with input from people who know drift tracks well.

Borrow, rent, steal, a tractor with scoop on the back(or blade whatever).

"survery" the track out, mark it, strating makin' it.

Then talk to asphalt co's about laying asphalt for reduced price or free if their owners/employers can race free and you put up big signhs for them advertising their Co.

Get a lawyer to write up a waiver for people to sign, "race at your own risk, track is not liable.. bla bla bla...."

use imagination, be resourceful.

it would be a blast...i am wondering though. Anyone find out how much money it would be to build a place like this, also you could rent out the track on non drift nights to karts and Solo I type deals for even more money
