Hi all.



This is mainly for the Experianced Drag racers, I am trying to get some pointers in the art of geting a powerfull Rx off the start line of a drag strip as quick as possable.



I know some of the basics but i'd love to get some tips off proper racers.



I guess being in the UK i want to learn how to launch a Rx in the wet! LOL.

the best way to do it is purchase drag radials and get spare rims to put them on. i launch very hard..... you can launch easy and still get a good time on drag radials. the best way to get better at drag racing is practice. be prepared to learn alot and break alot.... lol

To get a good reaction time you need to be launching when the last yellow is lit on the tree. At least thats how I got my .550 RT

I have a set of stock rims (o yeh i'm talking about an FD) will they be wide enough?



What sort of Drag tyres do you recomend? are they diffrent from racing Slicks?



It has alot of suspension mods (inc. anti wheel hop links etc) and its running about 420 genuine hp (flywheel)



what sort of tyre presure etc do you recomend with them? and is there a sort of wet type drag tyre (sounds daft but hear tracks are rarly 100% dry)

Drag tires are different from race slicks.



Nitto has a new tire that does well at drag and track supposedly, Vosko knows more about them.



Full drag though? I have no idea.

Alot depends on your driving preference. Some people slip the clutch and others dump the clutch. That is up to you. Slipping is easier on your parts, but hard on your clutch as it creates alot of heat. I dump, myself. While at the track, like mentioned earlier, go on the last yellow. By the time your brain tells your feet to move teh light will have went green and you will have a descent R/T. There are two types of tree, pro and sportsman. On a Pro tree, you have .400 to cut a perfect light and the lights go pre-stage, stage, all yellow, green. They are much tougher to launch on, just go whent the yellows light up. On a sportsman tree, the yellows run in consecutive order, count to yourself while you are launching. Leave on the last yellow.



I run Nitto 555R's as well. They seem to hook up pretty descent and I drive them all the time, I never take them off, they are more or less my street tires.



Depending on your mods and such will dictate your launching RPM when I was on my stock twins non-seq with a FMIC, DP, MP, CB, 4-puck Clutch, lightened Flywheel, and fuel pump. I would launch at 6000-6200 at the track and dump the clutch, hold the throttle steady to spin the tires but not haze the tires, then shift without lifting off the throttle, shft fast though, and then just keep it heading in a straight line.
