actually i've drifted stock miata,fc,fd,s13,s14,blazer,corolla, i can't think of much else



i said n/a FC's aren't smooth sliding stock, if you think they are show me video please, of bone stock FC's sliding like a stock s13 and prove me wrong

if the fc is stock and is working like it should, it will be very hard to drift.

if the suspension is shot it may actaulyl be easier to drift it.

Ok your wording made it sound as if you where saying it could not drift. What technically makes the stock s13 smoother? I am not going to post any videos. You have driven and seen both and formed a personal opinion.It is not fact that a stock s13 is any smoother drifting then an N/A fc. It is all relative.



The question was not about weather your s13 was a better drift car. The question was if it is possible for an N/A fc to drift in wich many people do.Smoother then a s13 maybe maybe not. He wants to drift his car is it possible. Yes it is . Will it look the best and or be the smoothest. Who cares stock cars don't look very smooth drifting. Yes even your s13 with its massive body roll just like the fc and any other stock car.

Also nowhere in this thread did I even say the fc was smoother then your s13.You just took offense to my comment about you owning a nissan and felt you had to defend it. In wich my experience with many other nissan 240,s13,180sx owners I have been graced by there presence seem to think there stock nissan is the ultimate drift machine.Don't take offense to any of this I am not **** talking your s13. They have there merits..

Oh lord...not the mazda vs nissan **** throwing contest again! This happens on too many forums...



First off, FCs were intended to get traction from the factory and be a well balanced car. This "get traction" attitude from mazda in the late 80s, early 90s resulted in a car that is in fact hard to "drift" stock as vosko was saying. The DTSS is a glitch..and needs to be taken out of the picture if you have any hopes of drifting. I started in my '88 SE NON LSD "drifting" ..which now of course i realize was just sliding cuz i had enough speed... but you CAN drift an NA FC. Get some used tires, an LSD (stock is fine..mechanical from '87/'88 is better the later '89/'91 viscous units) and go tear it up. Your gonna suck. Your gonna feel like a fish flopping around...and yea..your gonna look horrible doing it... EVERYBODY starts somewhere.



That said... building an FC into a full out drift car is possible too, and i have nissan buddies who also have drifted modded FCs and actually say the FC is MORE predictable then the nissan w/ the right mods... its all in what kind of driver you are and what you do to your ride..

weight polarization, engine placement, steering angle, yadda yadda yadda...

Even on fc3spro's site though..if you pay attention, it shows that with mods, the FC can be a better platform... The biggest hold up I see and agree w/ the S-body guys is the multi-link rear we have vs the double wishbone they have... thats stock though.



The S-body is a better beginner, but the FC is for skilled drivers or enjoy highspeed (not that you cant w/ an Sbody, just saying)
