Wow, not much activity on this forum. So, is anyone else around here road racing their rotary cars? We've been running a '79 and an '80 RX-7 in SCCA Improved Touring (ITA or IT7) for the last three years or so. We just sold our '79 to recoup some of what we spent on a Baby Grand car. Our '80 is in the shop right now getting an engine rebuild, because we blew a side seal earlier this season up at Kershaw.

Excellent. Always nice to run into fellow racers as well as rotorheads. I doubt we'll run into each other at the track soon, since we run exclusively in the Southeast. Unless you guys are coming to the ARRC in November, that is. There's a fairly active group of rotary racers over in the "Mazda" forum on ImprovedTouring.com, too. I'm not sure why there doesn't seem to be much overlap between this group and that one.

I had campaigned an ITS car for the last several years in Cen-Div. Picked up the Cen-Div East championship last year. Sold the car this year. The expenses just take the fun out of it. Will probably put "something" together in the future but it will be a couple years for sure.

My brother and I drove an '80 in CSP for the PHA circuit. There are only a couple of rotaries competing. We're preparing an SE for IT that we plan to have ready for next season.

yah, its the other way round though, pack one car and enough spares for 6-7. 24 hours racing means brake jobs, and maybe changing the trans and rear end, not to mention the 5-6 sets of tyres, and gas...

we've talked about doing it, but its not cheap

Anyone have pictures of there SA's? I have an SA that I would eventually like to turn into a track car. What are some key things to upgrade/replace/etc.. before taking it out on the track?

Congrats on your championship, but sorry to see u leave the sport, I have enjoyed all the stories, information and the videos.

Come back soon, I hope you will still impart your knowledge as others persue the avenues where u have been.
