1 gallon [US, liquid] = 128 ounce [US, liquid]

therfore for a 256:1 that is 1oz oil to 2 gallons fuel

In my non-fact-based-reasonable-logic-only opinion that a mix of 1oz:1gal would be good for a car being broken in or that is getting tired to help seal and give a couple psi better compression. For a fresh sealed healthy motor 1oz:2gal should be just fine (based on the experience that my car hasn't blow up yet)

On my tired old motor, I've actually noticed less oil smoke when shifting at high rpms after I started premixing. Seems to fit your opinion.

Ive been testing piston ring and cylinder liner materials for may masters project (mech eng) on a custom built bench test machine, anyway the new test rig has just been built and I didnt have any oil (two stoke) so went to the garage and got some and ran a quick test, when I got hold of some of the regular oil that I had been using on the previous test rig the wear rate of the seals halved and there was a significant drop in the wear rate of the liner material. Both of these oils are TWC3 rated so it appears that they are not all created equally.
