Thumbs up

I have a 90 non-turbo rx-7 with 80k on it. I want to add a turbo, but i've heard some bad things a bout putting one in a N/A. Would the compression be too high? how could i lower it. I also read about porting. Would thsat be a better option. could i do it myself? ANY info would be helpful.

slapping a turbo on an N/A is doable, but i would not recommend it.

check out the 2nd Gen spacific FAQ area, it has a pinned topic on your question.

about porting yourself. first of all you would have to rebuild the engine and that is a bit work.

If you are not mechanicly inclined i would get a shop to do it. This is also an entire section for engine rebuilding and porting. check it out

I remember reading a page where I guy turbo'd his N/A. He said outright that it would be cheaper and more practical to buy the TII, but he did all the modifications to make it possible anyway.

I think the Greddy kit is for the TIIs. if you were to slap that kit on your car it would not fit. even if you made it fit you would not be able to boost very high at all. If you realy want a turbo i would sell your N/A and get a TII. IMO. If you really want to do it, have fun and good luck.
