Oil Cooler Above Headers?
#1
On my 510 there is no room for an oil cooler in front of the radiator because I have a huge ford fan attached to the radiator. So I was planning on mounting it on the left side of the engine bay above the headers. The question is, is it going to be too hot? Also it will be facing towards the engine. If its too hot, I can always make an opening in the hood above the oil cooler, will this help? It wont be too close to the headers but Im still worried about heat.

ummm, i think i would really try to find a different spot, maybe get a different oil cooler. with it being that close to such a hot spot in the engine it kindof defeats the purpose of having it altogether. I'm not sure what to say ????

so there is not room to mount it in one of the front corners etc? It isn't going to cool **** if it's sitting in the hottest place in your engine compartment.. If you don't have room you can always get more hose and run it someplace else like in the back or under the vehicle and put a small flexlite fan on the back of it to move air threw it. Also don't forget that Oil on header can = fire...

Thanks for the suggestions, Im looking into a different front end that will hold the factory oil cooler and still get plenty of air. I was also thinking of having water spray to help cooling, not sure if that will work or not.
