me and a friend recently invested in an 86 RX7 and I had a lot of performance questions. to start we're looking to build a NA engine thats semi-streetable. meaning we dont care about rough idle, emissions, noise, etc. its not a daily driver or anything but we do like do some weekend cruising.

first off we're looking at getting a bridge ported engine and we were looking for good fuel delivery upgrades as well as exhaust and some day a good fuel management system to compliment the engine. I understand that the bridge port will make idle somewhat sparratic. but are the benefits worth it or should I go with a "stage 2" street port?

I'm also looking for advice as far as fuel delivery. I saw some 1600cc and 1000cc injectors for sale for about $90 a piece. isn't 1600 a bit overkill? what about fuel rail upgrades? anything I missed?

also on the exhaust, I saw a bonez exhaust system for about $800, does anyone have any experience with bonez? any reccomendations for full (headers aft) exhaust systems?

as far as ignition goes, I hear you guys talk about the 6AL all the time. so I think I'll go with that.

and what are the benefits of the 3mm apex seals over stock?

thats about all I can think of right now, hope I didnt overwhelm you guys. I'm sure I'll think of more later.

Thanks

ok, did some more research and came across the haltech e6x fuel/ignition controll system. any thoughts? also, I wouldnt need the MSD 6AL if I got this would I?

You will not be able to run the motor off of a stock ecu, so plan on having the Stand alone ready when the motor is ready to go in. 3mm apex seals require that the rotors be clearenced. Haltech is an ECU, not an ignition box, it does not increase your spark. With a full bridge port you will need 1600cc injectors.

thanks hand, but what are the benefits of going with the 3mm seals, and does anyone have any thoughts or experience with the bonez exhaust system?

benefits of 3mm seals are stronger and withstand more of the crap a rotary goes through. If your spending all this money on a bridgeported motor and haltech, get a real exhaust system honestly, because bonez seems to be more of a ebay company. Racing beat is one of the best ...

right on, so no bonez... now with all these goodies being thrown at the ol 7 how the drive train going to hold up?

and you guys talk about auxillary injectors, is this something you added in? I only see 2 injectors on that engine ('86 13B) maybe I'm missing something here

The motor in that na is a 6 port, you cant bridge port a 6 port motor. Why dont you just go turbo?

Why not?

i guess you can, but you wont see much power gains. turbo is the best way to go.

oh yea, If you want a good catback, go with the corksport, I have it its 3" stainless steel tubing with a 4 inch tip. And it isnt expencive. Also the quality is amazing. After getting that you can just get a racing beat header and presilencer and bolt that to the new catback. That car will be LOUD. with a ported motor https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif
