I am looking at all my options right now. I used to use a PFS smic and I sold that.

I have Greddy/Trust 3 row front mount but I honestly don't want to go through the hassle

of mounting it. I am considering cutting offthye tanks and welding on some others and making it a smic

I was looking for parts for this and I came across two pretty good links.



Of coarse the downside is that I still would need to make a duct for it.

Anyone ever done their own IC's?



Any info or advice?

Why not just sell the greddy fmic and buy a nice smic instead of chopping it all to hell? Your gona put more work into making a fmic a smic than if you just go ahead and install the damn thing

Because I don't think that would be the case.

Also front mount intercoolers impede air flow to the

radiator. Increasing your chances of overheating.





SMIC is the wqy to go. With a front mount you can only get on the throttle for a short period of time.

Yeah they do impede air flow to the radiator, but not as bad as you would think. I have a fluidyne radiator so maybe I don't see as high a temps as someone with a stock raditor with a fmic. I created a vent of my own with my condensor. Since it sits horizontal below the intercooler, I just angled it and created a gap between it and the fmic to create a scoop, works very well too! And if your worried about your AC not working well you can hook another fan to it and it works great. I live on the Coast of NC and it gets pretty hot down here, and I've never had a problem with overheating. I drive in stop and go traffic to work everyday and drive it hard on the back roads.



Heres a short story: This summer one of my wires controlling my radiator fans came undone, resulting in no fans. Well I had no idea and drove the car like this for 2 days!! I finally figured it out after driving the car home from work (15 minute drive) and then taking it out back on my "drag" road and making a 1/4 mile pass. Well this was before I installed my water temp gauge (this was the reason why too), all of a sudden I noticed that my stock water guage was starting to rise fast!! So I turned off the car and then turned the key over so the fans would come on, but they didn't. So after much investigating I found the faulty wire and installed a water temp gauge to keep a better eye on temps. So this kinda proves that you can drive the car for long periods of time with a fmic and no raditor fans :bigthumg:

Ok, I decided to take a couple pics to illistrate. This first pic here is showing my dirty front bumper, and you will also notice the gap between the condensor and fmic. I'm still debating if using some sheet metal to fab a better scoop would do a better job, but for now this works awsome.

The second pic here is kinda hard to understand, so I used my paint skilz to point out what the pic is showing. Its an upside down pic of the bottom of my car showing how I hooked a fan on my condensor to still retain good AC. The cool part is, where it is hooked on there is hardly any way for it to get knocked off bottoming the car out or going over speed bumps.

NIce write up.



Dave Go with what I did. A custom NPR setup. Nothing has to be relocated and it will work great for what you plan on doing. Its Not as thick as a name brand FMIC but for stock twins works great.



And as far as driving hard...I do, and have never had any problems. I'd choose a FMIC over SMIC any day.

That pic got me dizzy..



Justin you and that NPR!

I was taking some measurements and my 3 row would make a perfect stock mount.

I am gonna buy maye two new endtanks, at least one(the pass side one may work)

They go for anout $120 each. And Rikki said he can hook me up with the duct.

So I will spend about $300 to get it done.

It will new and original and I'll have the only one.



I will make sure to get pics and all that good stuff when I do it.
