I have a T4 (60-1) hybrid turbo. It has an s5 back side and when my last engine blew the turbo went as well. I was going to get the turbo rebuilt or buy one just like it. The only problem I had with the turbo was the turbo had really bad boost creep. I had the spring set for 5 pds and I hit 14. I heard that if I have an external wastegate custom modified on to the turbo, it would solve the boost creep problem. Does anyone know of a place that can rebuild my turbo and modify it to have an external wastegate? Has anyone done this or had it done before

I can use all the help I can get

I haven't played with hybrid myself, but I was under the impression that you really can't go over an H-3 compressor with a stock (even ported) wastegate. Also that turbine is really too little for a 60-1 to work efficiently (I would think) even with the boost issue resolved.

Since the S5 is a split scroll, it's sort of more difficult to add an external WG is you want to keep it split. You can, however, get the turbine housing bored to accept a larger turbine wheel (this works on turbos in general - I'm unaware of any reason it couldn't be done to an S5. I've seen it done to an S4 [P trim upgrade]). If you then port the wastegate, you might be okay.

I have seen it done once on a friends car and the cost can be probihitive (very expensive) and my suggestion to you is do an upgrade to a full TO4. The cost might just be a couple hundred dollars difference. Here is a couple of pics I had down loaded so as to assist my friend. This setup was done with the S5 turbine housing.

Doing it this way is very labour intensive. As can be seen from this next pic. Alot of porting is required along with some machining.
