Remove it.. yea or nay ?

Is there any forseeable downside to this mod other than you gotta let the motor warm up before getting in to the throttle?

r_xplicit 10-13-2002 02:06 PM

just like you said. but, don't you let it warm up anyway?

no problems that i have ever seen. mine has been disabled for 2 years now, and i am a day or 2 away from removing the butterflies....

louis

Fd3BOOST 10-13-2002 07:48 PM

Yea I let it warm up. That was the only "warning "I have ever heard though and I just want to cover my bases.

1Revvin7 10-13-2002 09:24 PM

i yanked mine, its a cold beats now. I always let it warm up anyhow.

JT-Imports 10-13-2002 10:43 PM

Im in the process of having mine removed with my engine. I borred the throttle to 4mm too, but I will post if anything pops up negative and OF COURSE the possitive..

Hmmm Why bore the throttle? What is to gain?

Fd3BOOST 10-24-2002 12:18 AM

Wow Jason those lookreally good. Did you get them installed yet? I am curios if you got much boost creep from them? If so what is your solution??

MAN-NY 10-25-2002 01:42 PM

Interesting...I was thinking of doing something similar

Just thinking though....hehe

Definately like the end result!!!

r_xplicit 10-25-2002 05:23 PM

i am buying an extra uim right now so i can have mine extrude honed. i just saw the gsr head back from them up at the shop, and the cleanliness of the porting is something FFFAAARRR from what a human hand can do....the cost is relatively** inexpensive as well....

Fd3BOOST 10-26-2002 02:18 AM

Well I just thought that I would follow up on this.. The double throttle is outhttps://www.nopistons.com/forums/upl...1035616580.jpg

JT-Imports 11-02-2002 04:33 AM

I have it installed. Im breaking in my new engine, so nothing yet. I should know more in about a week. Then a lot more info in about 2 weeks, when I get my full tune. Responce is UP UP UP though, that I noticed, but cant tell yet weither thats the engine or Throttle, more to come..

Mine should feel completlt different when it goes back together. New clutch/ flywheel/ 3 row front mount/non-sequential/double throttl e removal/ Large street port.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png and looks like I'm ditching my PMS for PFC. I can't wait to see the difference.

Can we say Zoom Zoom Zoom :smirk:

Fd3BOOST 11-02-2002 07:32 AM

luigi

JT-Imports 11-04-2002 03:05 PM

HAHA I have an idea..hehe

I have all my work done by Hyradshokai, is a really old company, that has always worked on Rotaries and works on other cars too. I would just run to FEED, but they are about 6 hours away. So no thanks hehe I have a machine shop I use, but the price is about the same.

Jason

wptrx7 11-05-2002 09:15 AM

That looks sweet. I've seen the overbored throttlebodies but never much done to the intake manifolds besides port matching.

Jason, what'd this run you?

MazdaMike 01-15-2003 12:36 AM

damn fd3boost when r u gonna be getting ur car back? id like to hear how it turns out with those mods.

and what exactly does this throttle body mod do, what kind of power increase can u expect?

Fd3BOOST 01-15-2003 12:46 AM

Not really anything that I think you will notice.

It just kinda cleans up the intake tract.

Hey every little bit helps right?

The car has been down for a long time. Seems like forever. I am assembling the engine block this Saturday.

I expect it all to be done and ready for inspection in the end of February.

JT-Imports 01-15-2003 12:48 AM

For my surge tank polished on the inside.

my intake manifold ported and polished

the double throttle removed---$800 the

throttle was $500 to have done, they changed

the butterflies with that too.

Im just starting to boost, and WOW!

I cant wait to get my boosting broke in so I can

start tearin it up...

Fd3BOOST 01-15-2003 12:50 AM

You know that break in periods are kinda bogus right Jason?

You don't really need to break it in.

JT-Imports 01-15-2003 12:51 AM

I get these 2 pops when I press on the gas pretty hard..

Not like power lose pops, kind of weird, anoying to me at

first, but im use to it now

JT-Imports 01-15-2003 12:54 AM

Fd3BOOST-- opinions always very man. I do it to be safe. I had a buddy with a trueno, he was always overhauling his own engines, so after one overhaul without breaking in the engine, he just stomped on it. BOOM! So ever since then I go with the break in you know.......?

If I had the midus touch, maybe I wouldnt hehehe

Node 01-15-2003 02:07 AM

only reasons ive ever heard for breaking in is for letting parts mate to each other and to wear very tight to each other to give great compression and what not. So you actually produce more power as the parts are worn together.

Never heard of anyone blowing **** in from not breaking an engine in, just not having all of the power they could have.

JT-Imports 01-15-2003 02:47 AM

What he said happend exactly was:

I stepped on the gas and the RPMs starting going up ofcourse

and he said around 4000, he said it started getting really slugish

and the RPMs werent rising as much and he said he kept the pedal

pressed and around 6500 it went boom, actually it just seized.

Node 01-15-2003 04:33 AM

hmmm, maybe that was from improper clearancing during assembly.
