I purchased one of the C's on that particular group buy. It was definitely a quality piece but I honestly don't think the throw is that much shorter than the stock counterpart.

Id have to dissagree with this big time(IMO). After installing the C's i noticed a huge difference in the shifter. Even all my friends that sat in the car just to pretend shift said it was incredibly short. The arm on the C's is longer then stock but as stated a shorter arm is not what gives you a short throw. its all in the lower section of the piece. I dont know how to describe it but thats what gives you the short throw.......

installed............

the old shifter had a hole in the boot so it leaked some gear oil a bit. I should have taken the pic once i cleaned up the oil stain and such

That doesn't make any sense. You're shortening the radius of the shifter consequently ALSO shortening the circumference of the throw or distance one has to push the lever. You need more torque required to shift but you reduce the length as with any type of shifter configuration. Either you lengthen the lever below the pivot point or shorten above the pivot point, both will give you the desired results. It's simple physics.



I simply shortened the length of the shifter above the pivot point, although it was a little more extensive than just cutting off the top a little. The point is that it really shortened the throw. Feels like an s2000's shifter. I really like it.

in the pic above. which is which? my shifter is shaped the shiny on the left. and ive been trying to figure out if its teh stocker or not ever since i bought the car.

Ya sorry......the C's is on the left. I dont know how to explain the design and function of the geometry, but with my nice heavy **** on there it feels like the gears are right there, no searching. Neutral has such little side to side movement now also.
