I think ITO had an issue with centerforce clutches. Something about his brother driving their drag car and the clutch exploded. If it wasn't for the scatter shield, some serious carnage could have occured.

Speaking of scatter shields,....who makes them for FCs (and FDs too)? I'm in the market for one. I know there are blankets available,...but I want an actual shield (in accordance to NHRA or similar rulebooks of course). My Exedy Hyper Single will "only" handle 400hp roughly. I can upgrade to the Twin plate, but I also want the extra margin of safety provided by a scatter shield.

I had pretty good luck with Center Force until I hit the 400hp range.....But I'm friends with Kevin Wyum and he still runs a Center Force on his FD and he has 700plus whp.... Last he told me he got 8k miles on a Center Force... Its all in the driver style too. If you do a 6k launch all day long don't expect it to last....

I've had my twin plate rebuilt over a year ago. They start off at 4mm thick disks...when they wear down to 1.5mm(I think...can't remember off the top of my head)...then you have to junk them. I beat up on my car a lot....and a year later, I'm down to 3.5mm At this rate...it'll take me 5 years to wear out my clutch.
