I am doing the TID mod on my car, and have a problem with my air pump...that is, it gets in the way of my 3" 45deg bend. I hear the Japanese ones allow it to BAIRLY fit, so what is the difference between the two? Will a J-Spec air pump directly swap into my 86-88 TII?

I need to keep my air pump for now because I have a high-flow cat, and I can't get rid of it until I have enough money to buy fuel upgrades.
