how necessary or how helpful would a fuel pulsation dampener be on an aftermarket fuel system that uses fuel rails and fuel pressure regulator?

from what i have been reading, it will help dampen the rapid fluctuations in fuel pressure in the fuel system from the openning and closing of the fuel injectors.

the general opinnion is, that it's not needed.

somewhere i was reading though, that especially with big injectors and high pressure, those pulses add up pretty bad....meaning a FPD is a good idea.

no experience though, sorry.

Depends on the FPR...some of them have Dampening abilites built in, but is only considered effective if it's mounted directly to an end of a Fuel Rail.

With bigger injector sizes and on a Parallel setup, it is wise to have an Aftermarket FPD, just to preven the pulses from when the bigger injectors fire. Marren makes a good unit, but I have been waiting on mine (backorder) for a couple months now.

I will be mounting mine on my secondary rail in my Parallel setup. Some people think that it would be ideal to have one on each rail, but I think that might be a bit overkill, possibly.

Without a PD you can risk leaning out or overflowing the injectors. There isn't a lot of documentation of this actually happening on cars. But if you are running a big fuel setup it is recomended. Almost every car made now has a PD on it. As stated Marren has a great unit and it's only like 125 bucks.
