Which would you prefer and why? what about stock mazda apex seals vs aftermarket 2 peicers. which lasts the long haul?

stock 2mm, the 3mm seals dont like high revs (8000+)

Go with stock Mazda 2mm seals and use the rest of the money to apply toward a wideband and learn how to tune.



BTW - some of you guys might not believe this but I talked to a guy that builds engines in FL that has a 8.xx 1/4 mile dragster and he was running 40ish psi of boost ON THE STOCK MAZDA 2mm SEALS!!!!!! Thats some crazy ****......I have no idea how long they lasted but I'm sure he would have switched to something else if it wasnt working good.

Seriously, go with 3mm if you do a rebuild and this is the only way to reuse the rotors. If you are experiencing detonation, then you have it tuned poorly. Dyno time with a wideband is cheap enough once you consider rebuild costs. How much more proof does there have to be to show that the stock apex seals are the shiznit with proper tuning.

So the stockers can handle the boost but what RPM are they good for?

I agree. Stock seals are the eay to go. Ray Wilson putdown 643 hp and runs 30 psi on stock seals.

My wimpy 12-13 psi ain't gonna break 'em.

i would have to say the stock ones work fine until they get to the point where they wear through to the center where the peice is split and then they fail miserably and ruin you're engine, thats why i prefer the 2 peicers over the stock ones, i know a guy that runs 45psi on them....3mm apex seals are totally pointless.
