22 hour trip from Florida to Minnesota, possibly stopping to sleep once. 2000 Hyundai Sonata GLS V6. I'm going to get the tranny fluid changed today, and get the tires balanced and rotated. I think we have about 2,000 miles on the current oil, should I go ahead and change the oil before we leave? Should I use some of the fuel injector cleaner you pour in the tank? I guess I should also check the air filter, don't know the last time that's been changed. So far the car runs great, I just want as little to worry about as possible.

Visually Inspect the tires check pressures. Check spare make sure its good. Pit together a small set of tools - just in case. Better to be prepared.

How many miles on the car? I wouldnt add any fuel additives at this point dont go crazy. Make sure she is in good running order.

I would get a fresh oil change but that is just me. w/ 2K miles to go for a change I think your all good.

Have fun!!!

I think mileage is around 47k or 48k. I just had the a/c checked out, I'm getting the radiator checked out tomorrow, and the tranny place said they don't have an opening until next thursday. All these services are with coupons (wife bought a coupon book). I figured the a/c is fine, and I'm sure the radiator is fine, but might as well get it checked since it's free.

So I'll probably do the tranny fluid change myself, along with the oil change.

Thanks for the tip on tools, I never would've thought to bring tools with me. I guess I forget that cell phones don't work everywhere.

considering the mileage I would change the plugs and fuel

filter

if you pick up 3-4mpg it will be well worth it with the price

of gas these days

dont forget a good flashlight for your toolset, like a 3-5 cell MagLite

maybe a calling card and make sure you have a credit card as well
