13bt > renesis and would be probably an easier swap

Isn't 13bt a turbo? If I'm going to fumble with turbo I'm going to do it right, 20b or 26b (I hear theres a place that makes a kit so you can build your own) Really all I'm looking to do is make the Fiero better around the curves, improve the weight ratio and do a swap that nobody else has done. I think the Renesis will leave more engine bay room, and stay cooler, which will make the car more reliable. I think I'll be able to spank a lot of cars out there with it. The car weighs about 2700 pounds right now, I think the rotary is probably 3/4's the weight of the gm 2.8, maybe even less so with the 238 hp the Renesis has I should be able to do fine. I figure I'll probably get a little more power out of the motor than I do in my RX8 since the intake will be better, the exhaust will probably be better to. (By better I mean more free flowing) Can you point me towards some technical write up that shows difference between the two?

I'm looking into injecting hydrogen into the intake, so if I get that figured out I'll probably get a little more power from that too. Don't think about this too deep, I'll post info on that in a different area when I have a system together so everyone can benefit. I'll post dyno results too.

About 2500, I don't know if that includes the injectors, etc...

I'll be looking for smashed up RX8's for the electronics though.

to much bs involved with the renesis, id go with a ported 13b if you dont want to fumble with turbo stuff even though really the 13bt is very low maintence

+1 for Crass's suggestion. A mildly modded 13BT is actually a pretty low maintenance engine. And if you do want to run N/A for simplicity sake, then run a 13B instead of the Renesis. There's a lot involved with the Renesis that isn't there on a normal 13B. Just my .02 though.

a bridgeported n/a is going to spank a renesis for the same price maybe less or a 13bt motorset again about the same price as the renesis.... remember the renesis is rated lower than what you mentioned and that is not whp.

Last post being 2006, wondering if you ever got a rotary set up & running in a Fiero?

I found a place that will make an adapter plate for the engine/tranny, but before I get all excited what I really need to know is if the rotation of the driveshaft is correct. Anybody know? Also, anybody know of a good place to get an rx8 computer so I can run the motor with fuel injection? If this project seems too hard I'll do a gm 3800 series 2, but the coolness factor won't be as high.

The rotary rotates clockwise when looking from the front.

I used a steel 1/4" plate to adapt a Chevy S-10 bell housing to a 12A. Should work fine on a Pontiac. I can explain the process if you want to try that.

I just found this thread, I am planning a Renesis/Fiero swap as well. I am having trouble with finding a transaxle that will work, I'm looking for a 6 speed manual.
