It produces plenty of torque for a 2.whatever litre engine. It's just because it's producing an insane amount of horsepower that the torque levels don't seem to match.

Yeah, for a 2 liter engine, but at the same time look at where the rev has to be to reach that torque. You are better off with an aluminum block 4 cylinder.

It's hourses for courses, my car only produces 75lb ft of torque, and thats at something like 7500rpm - but it's plenty for the car since it's light. In fact it has more torque/tonne than an new v8 range rover. Regardless, this RPA v8 will produce well over twice that with a far nicer spread in cars that don't weigh a whole lot than mine - I guarantee you nobody is going to be complaining about torque. And that engine star

As for the 4 cyl engine being better, I can't think of any 2.6 litre engines that produce anywhere close to 380bhp without forced induction, and as for the torque comment, I take it you haven't seen this:

Put that engine in a Lotus 7 clone that weighs 1300# and you'll smile every time you hit the go pedal. Bad part is the engine will cost more than the rest of the car. An awesome track car that you can carry a passenger in.

That 2.6 wasn't N/A so why should the 4 cylinder have to be N/A?

Come to think of it, what kind of horsepower would that thing make if it did have a set of turbos on there? The hayabusa heads are good for 500bhp each

http://www.rst-v8.com/ - Here's a similar idea using 2 Yamaha R1 engines using 2 crankshafts, no idea how the gearbox would work - the website doesn't say anything about what they use, from the video's on the site it looks like a standard non-sequential gearbox.

The only other v8 from 2 bike engines I can think of is one developed by Quantum http://www.cyclonepowerltd.co.uk/products.htm

The Radical engine looks far more competent engine than either of these though.

There's also the Drysdale engines. http://home.mira.net/~iwd/

I want that Radical engine. That's the closest you'll get to an F1 engine for the road.
