I was flipping thru a 1989 Motor Trend and there is the 944S2, along with a

TII vs. convertible article

The TII out performed it except in the slalom which they said was because

the 944 had wider tires.

i love the 968, or what some call the new generation of the 944, which it is....they have the optional m030 suspension and handle really nicely. their only downfall was the $ and the lack of a turbo in that model, and the only one that got a turbo was a factory cup car and was upwards of $150K......WOW.....the 928 was a great car, and they still are, some, like the above comments, are not too fond of their looks, pop up lights and the rear, but the V-8 that is in there is truly astonishing......try riding in one that is internally modded and has a worked suspension....you will want one too. they are undeniably torquey and well built......one of the most reliable in my mind.....

the 944's, to ge tback to some above posts, is reliable, however, dan, my buddy, like i said, has gone through 3 engines and 2 turbos....and ~43K later, he still loves it and it is like a freight train......

me too but he said it was very reliable and hasnt had any probs
Funny how everyone says that when they want to sell their car. I don't know about reliability. If he compared the car to an 87 Lexus then their is an obvious problem there.(no lexus' then) But I wouldn't consider either cars to be reliable. But I can't see parts costing as much as a 7's since I think the made alot more 944's. If you like the style then don't let someone elses opinion stop you from buying it.

the only 944 worth the money/trouble is the turbo model, those can really scoot.
considering the clutch is a grand and the timing belt is 500...**** that

400 dollar headgasket, i had one for 2 weeks and got a 88gtu, and i was much happier, but slower

924 = 1.8L 8v audi motor

944 = 2.5L 8v twincam motor

944s=2.5L 16v twincam motor

944s2= 2.5L 16v 10.5 compession

There is an 89 944 Turbo S for sale near here, it's a light charcoal color, has rims that look quite a bit like the factory phone dial rims on 7's, it looks niiiiicccee

I know he wants and arm and a leg for it and i can't afford the insurance :P Maybe i get a pic of it sometime...
