I've heard Nissan has a new Skyline GTR prototype out but I've not seen pics of it the only thing I can find is the Infiniti looking thing. While that's OK and all I'd hope there's a real Skyline still out there somewhere.

Anyone got pics?

Uh huh, Skylines are tanks.

rx7machine 04-21-2003 09:53 PM

Oh yea, I remember that concept.. looks alright if you're into that kinda stuff. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

rfreeman27 04-27-2003 09:44 PM

i hate the headlights. the back end looks sexy tho.

rbrtech 04-29-2003 11:50 AM

I had a r32 in japan gts-t and it hawlded ass stock. I cant knock a skyline.

methanol 05-01-2003 11:46 AM

Only thing I'd be worried about is, what motor will they be using? If it's a turbo version of the motor they got in the new Z theres gonna be trouble... I have owned a Z32 and know there weaknesses, overheating is one of the huge problems, from lack of space under the hood. And now there attepting to put a bigger one in again (VQ35DETT) Power wise it will be a killer, especially if the rumors are true and there gonna ditch that stupid 208kw rule, I guess time will tell https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/cool.png

FrestyleFC3S 05-09-2003 12:47 AM

its ******* ugly....skylines were never curvy, and should not be curvy.....i hate modern car designs.....im the minority but i hate the new evo, the new sti, the new skyline, and some others.... old versions are sexy....only exception would be the rx8, its got nice curves but i hate the heads and tails....

Yep, old Skylines kick butt!

Here's a pic of one that looks almost exactly the same as mine did.

j9fd3s 05-09-2003 03:22 PM

it looks like a shoe? is that the new trend?

mike

Jerk_Racer 05-09-2003 05:28 PM

Hey, that was as good as it got in the early '80s in Japan. That was the best luxury sports car available then. Mine was actually the Paul Newman signature series. It was very high tech for over 20 years ago.

mightymouse0x 05-11-2003 03:21 AM

i hated the way the gtr35 concept looked. while im a huge fan of the older skyline, my fav being the r32, the gtr35 concept kinda grew on me. in the next couple of year when im looking at a new car to purchase, this will prob be what i will get. that, or the new rx-7 or maybe the new supra...who knows, they should all be sweet

Streetrally 05-11-2003 03:40 AM

I'm gonna have to go with freestyle on this one. Modern car designs don't impress me at all. Everything is getting so much bigger, even the sports cars. I parked next to a new Z the other day and it practically engulfed my FC. And then look at the G35. 20 in wheels?! Thats outta control. SCC did an article about wheel size stating that you go faster on smaller wheels. 20 in is for style, 15s are for drifters. Even the EVO VIII looks pretty big. That's just my dual lincons.

FrestyleFC3S 05-11-2003 12:16 PM

anyone see the crossfire....i had the luck of going to test drive it...my friend and i were driving down the raod one day in NJ and saw like 15 crossfires driving, so we pulled upto one at a light and asked the guy wats going on - theyre having a nationwide test drive thing and people can test drive them. so they told us to follow them to the place thy had setup with events and **** about the crossfire and then they let us test drive it

it sucked

it was auto and slow, but my major gripe was its ******* UGLY!!!!! ill try and get pics up later but the **** is the worst ever

MazdaMike 05-11-2003 12:55 PM

skylines are beautiful, i like te fact that they arent curvy they are one of the cars that can pull it off. the way they style the car gives it that strong sturdy stance but AWD will help it out handeling wise

anyway a v8 turbocharged motor that sounds interesting im looking foward to seeing what parts theyre gonna be coming up with.

and mike when did u testdrive the crossfire? hehe u shoula drifted the biatch

Meddle 05-11-2003 02:49 PM

I think that the car looks pretty good personally.

craigny1 05-11-2003 02:58 PM

No worries. I usually get some 'interesting" comments when I show that pic. It could seat 7. 2 in the front, 3 in the rear, and 2 in the trunk. Lots of space for everybody. Lots of space to get my mojo going on too. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif Ahhh, that was one sweet car. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683473.gif

yeah they are kinda cool. my favorite skyline is the r32, its not so big looking

mike

rx7machine 05-12-2003 06:05 PM

I'm not a big fan of the early 80's skyline.. actually, I haven't ever seen alot of them before.. but I kinda like the R34's.. their boxy looks set them apart.

mightymouse0x 05-12-2003 06:32 PM

eww, i think the aw11 is too damn ugly. i love the fc look, and some of the older cars, but freestyle the aw11 is seriously sh*t

Srce 05-12-2003 11:52 PM

My favorite Skyline would be the R33 GT-R, not a huge fan of the 34. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

i duno...after owning sw20 for a while i guess the aw11 grew on me....its one cool looking car and its quick as hell

especially my friends aw11 with blacktop ae92 motor https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

mightymouse0x 05-15-2003 12:17 PM

people got different tastes i guess, ha. it just looks way out dated and very boxy and small. just looks weird, now the sw20 very very sweet looking car.

toddp31 05-16-2003 04:16 PM

GTR'S are the only skylines that count! The rest are slow pieces of junk (Rb20 RB25) But dump asses will still spend way to much for them, just to say they have/had a skyline. GAY! The new one is ugly and looks even heavier!

Jerk_Racer 05-16-2003 05:25 PM

Hey dude, that hurts. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/wacko.png I had a non-GTR Skyline. In all fairness I got mine before I even know anything about Skyline and if anybody on base was buying Skylines they were the R31's. I didn't know there was a budding import scene in America and the internet was just getting popular. This was about eight or nine years ago and my AE82 FX-16 wasn't cutting it anymore.

I know what you mean though. Too many noobs get them now that the R32's have dropped in price enough for them to be affordable to the average low ranking serviceman. I guess these days even the R33 GTS-t's are pretty affordable. I knew this one bonehead that thought his R32 Skyline GXi was badass. But once the average GTS-t got around or below $3k everybody got them. I bought my R30 in '95 or so. There was this one jerk that just bought a Z32 Fairlady Z and thought that twin turbo turd was faster than my POS R30. After being spanked from a roll at 50km/h and from a stop a few times he lost his cockiness towards my rust buck. But stock for stock, you bet. But mine had a little bit more power (L20ET + big turbo + full boost by 3k = pretty fast for a POS car) and a whole lot less weight (1260kg from the factory) by the time I got it. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/tongue.png

j9fd3s 05-16-2003 07:32 PM

1260kg isnt bad

mike

Jerk_Racer 05-16-2003 09:25 PM

The RS Turbo model was 1150kg for a car with 190ps and 205ps in the early model and late model of the DR30 IIRC. Their engines were the FJ20ET. This was an early '80s car after all. My car was the "luxury" model with the Paul Newman signature on the back. 1260kg at 160ps stock. It wasn't the sportiest of the line up when it was first introduced, but it's wasn't the slowest either.

I'll hijack this thread some more (why stop now?) once I get online at home. I have some old school Nissan commercials and other junk.

j9fd3s 05-16-2003 10:13 PM

cool, hijack away. the new ones are big and ugly

r_xplicit 05-17-2003 11:44 PM

it is clean, fluid, and has very nice lines.....HELL, it ought to, its a focking 350z derivative.....it looks weird to most, as the 350 once did, as it is such a stretch from the previous design......they are pretty, as is the 350, but they do not "look" like they are any fun to drive.....maybe it is just me or something....
