[quote name='Dysfnctnl85' date='Jun 30 2005, 10:22 PM']Lotus Elise + SRT4 motor or 4g63t...mmmmmmmm.

What about rotary? Perfect engine. Also this:

although I'd say an Elise is a good bit to heavy for a bike engine, anything over 550kgs eats clutches with bike engines apparently.

It's not too big for a boosted 'Busa motor.

I was thinking Honda S2000 motor. They are actually quite cheap and plentiful motors since the civic/integra guys can't use it as it's an inline engine and not a transverse

The elise takes a transverse motor as far as I know.
Dysfnctnl85, the clutches in these engines are barely the diameter of a cd - an uprated one in a Hayabusa with a serious turbo usually lasts about 2000 miles in a car as light as mine
, but the good news is they last much longer without the turbo and even when they do go it's a €100 job which takes 10 mins.

F1 clutches aren't much bigger than that, I'm sure you can pay Exedy to make a nice one for you...haha.

I think i saw a project elise that had an S2000 motor dropped in it, it was a snug fit but of all the I4's (of around 2 L displacement) out there, i think the S2000's engine would have been the best choice. For the V6 exige I remember reading that the guys at lotus had to stretch the chassis a little to make it fit, but that if they got enough orders for more, it would be possible to do a limited edition run of em.

F1 clutches are actually smaller, they're only the size of your fist (I would imagine they have more rings/plates though) - and they only have to last a couple of hundred miles.

Is there something wrong with the Toyota motor that everyone thinks to take it out already? I know there's not much of an aftermarket for it, but I think it's a pretty cool motor. Rebuilding it for boost and adding a GT28RS or GT2871R would make for an insane car!
Why would you put in an SRT-4 motor or 4G63? No way a big lump of cast iron would be going in if I bought one.

No there isn't anything wrong with the toyota motor, that and lotus tweaked the fuel injection and engine control to get even more HP.
Too bad that car is so much money and so hard to get in Canada. I hear used lotus elises in UK were plentiful and not that much.
