That's right there's a new version of the Exige on the way with over 240bhp by way of a supercharger on the toyota engine, and Ariel Atom style adjustable suspension. However at 930kgs it weighs nearly 150kg's more than a standard Elise, for gawd's sake it even has air-conditioning - Colin Chapman is turning in his grave. And the thing costs £45k - what a ripoff, even if you wanted one there's only 50 being made and they're all sold so hard cheese.

Other Lotus's in the pipeline: 1300kg v8 turbo Esprit due 2007 (better), and late this year we're getting a singleseater elise based track car using this same engine, but in a 600kg car - much better

More horsepower and more weight: the current trend in automobile design and manufacturing.

Yeah, I guess it's been going on since cars have been around, it's just unfortunate to see it happening to Lotus who's whole philosophy is lightness.

yea, it is disappointing that its gaining weight like that... a supercharger will add a little, but not that much, and who the hell would use AC in a car like the Exige.

Didnt they make a one-off v6 powered Exige with like 400 hp? I think I remember reading about that in CAR
