So I picked up a 95 SHO with an auto tranny (ick, I know) for a song and a dance, and it needed a little work, so I did a new serpentine belt, tranny filter/fluid/gasket replacement, new rear brakes/rotors, etc/ Now, for some reason, it is losing coolant and it's leaking onto the front catalytic converter, which sucks cause it's steaming like a son of a bitch...does anyone know anything about these? Where could it be leaking from? Ah, crap I'm so ready to get this damn thing going on the road!!!

I don't know much about them. I know my wife had one before she met me. She loved the car, BUT.... the auto tranny wasn't capable of handling the power and it crapped out early. She dumped the car before she had to buy a new tranny. I always heard that the 5-speed cars were fairly reliable.

Maybe have the cooling system pressure tested?

timing CHAINS usually hide behind covers with gaskets because they are lubed with the car's oiling system

timing belts are a different story

found it! There's a freeze plug that's in between the heads, under the fuel rail and behind the water pump. It was leaking like a sieve because it wasn't even actually in there, it was just laying on the motor. We put it back in and tightened it down hard and all seems to be OK. It's holding water and the temp/ gauge doesn't go above 1/3 now. Thanks for all the replies, b ut it was a keen eye and ear (not mine) that found it...the credit for that goes to my father-in-law!
