My "other" Project
#1
Hey guys,
I am in the process of moving a bunch of stuff out of the garage so I can finish the RX-Midget (bodywork and paint). I though you might like to see my “other” project. This one is a bit different – it has pistons – BIG PISTONS! To make room, I finally put the cab on it for the first time in 5 years and plane to store it outside this winter so I have lots of room in the garage.
It is a ’62 Chevy Stepside pick-up – sort of. You know me, I can’t leave it stock. The truck frame was cut off and the front frame of a ’78(?) T-Bird grafted on with its large disk brakes and very nice suspension. The T-Bird/Cougar donor also came with a 429 big block Ford and a B&M built C-6 trans and 9” rear. Oh, and when we bought the T-bird (and a Cougar came with it), we also got a 460 +.030 motor on the stand with ALL KINDS of goodies just waiting to be built up (roller rockers, Rhoads lifters, ect…). It should be good for about 500+hp and 500ft/lbs of torque
Anyhow here are pics from yesterday when I got the cab on and stuck a fender on to see how it would look. The hood is sitting on the back of the truck and all the bed pieces are there, just taken apart and laying on the back of the truck. The motor is HUGE, but looks lost with the cab on. It weighed about 1000 lbs. with trans! The engine hoist was given a workout!
I hope to get to work on it this spring after the Midget is done.

Good god Brian!! You gotta get that beast on the road man !!
That truck was supposed to be my tow vehicle for the Midget. It will have as many - or more tricks than the Midget, but this onw will have A/C. I have plenty power to run a compressor
I "HAD" 3 Cobra racing seats to put across the cab, but a damn racoon tore the crap out of them when I had them stored outside in the cab of the truck I now have a bench that will be coverd in some nice leather hide I got. I'm thinking about mounting the shifter on the steeting wheel as a F-1 style paddles since the trans is a C-6 auto that can only be manually shifted (semi-auto). That would be different.
But it will have to wait...

holy ****. you got some pimp toys!!!
"SOME ASSEMBLY REQUIRED"
When they are done, it will look cool with the truck towing the Midget to the track. I should be able to duplicate that Dodge Ram commercial where the guy races some necks in his truck - with a car on a trailer towed behind. That would be too funny to smoke a rice car while towing a trailer
