lol, we would have replaced the sensor, and then the tranny, and then the wheel bearings or the mudflaps or wahtever the problem is.

seriously, it sounds like it needs a tranny, we did 3 in november, and we only worked on like 30-40 cars

I don't mind them replacing the tranny if that's the problem, I just don't want to pay $129 for a fluid flush when they are the ones responsible for the problem.

I called them later yesterday. I say I think they are responsible. Guy says that I have to pay for the fluid flush because it's past the regular service interval. Earlier they told me that THEY changed the fluid at 35k, and 35k is the regular service interval. The car has ~58k on it. I told him that unless the mileage MAGICALLY JUMPED TO 70K, I didn't neglect the vehicle's maintenance. He also said that's it's 800 mi. from hitting the cutoff point for the warranty, which is false. So he said they would e-mail the district manager yesterday, and I should hear back from them today. I instructed my wife not to drive the car at all, except to the dealership.

Same thing I hear about the Mazda place here, which is a shame. The cars are good, but the dealership sucks. I like this car, I just hate taking to that damned place.

I called them back, he said the district manager said to go ahead to do it. We're supposed to take it in on Monday, and they're supposed to have a loaner for us. I just don't see what the hassle was, they're ready and willing to swap the tranny out for a new one, but they were dicking me around to pay $129 for a fluid flush first.

2 things.

one hyundai wants to make you happy, the dealer rep wants the dealer to call him when you do a big job like a tranny, but he's gonna approve it. one thing about the hyundai, is that when the warranty is over, its over, theres no goodwill or anything, so if you are 1 mile over and the car bursts into flames they dont care.

2, our mazda rep has warrantied seat belts on a 1978 glc, this makes him look bad, but we have happy customers

I had the recall done on my 90GTU for the seatbelts no questions asked. Probably not the same though.

The Audi dealership here is the same. They ar epainfully incompetant. I asked for a broken directional lamp to be fixed at a service interval and I got the car back with white epoxy all over the passanger fender and it will not come off.

They have been trying to find a coolent leak since I bought the car it still leaks after 4 attempts to fix it.

The think that pisses me off is that they apologize profusely and are to freaking nice. A little attitude is what I need so I can punch out someones lights. They are too nice... bastards!!

Polite + Incompetant = Frustrating

Tranny (auto) wouldn't shift out of a gear, they say speed sensor is broken. They replace that. We get the car back, now it shifts gears like crazy. Shifts are very abrubt, enough to shudder the entire car or sometimes chirp tires. And if you're at a certain speed and floor it or accelerate rapidly, instead of shifting down and going, it'll rev up and wildly shift between several gears in a matter of seconds, it's nuts.

So what do you guys think? Anyone ever heard of a problem like this?

My ex-girlfriends car had the same problem. She had a hyundai elantra, it was having the same problems as what you described. They told her it needed a new tranny, which I knew might not be the case. So I told her if she gave me a BJ I'd flush the tranny. When the tranny fluid was pouring out into the drain bucket it was rusty colored and had chips of metal, mixed with grease and gunk in it. So I had an Idea, it may sound dumb, but after everything was out I put radiator cleaner in it. I ran the car for a few minutes, shifting from drive to reverse to park and back again. Then I drained the radiator cleaner. After that I added some Lucas Stop-Slip and Some B&M Trick Shift Tranny Fluid. Told her to take it for a drive, and it shifted just fine, and I got my BJ. So everyone was happy . Take that advice. If it dosent work, heck your only out of a few bucks. Lot better than paying a $100 or more at a shop.

thats a little risky when if you do that and kill the tranny YOU will have to pay 3 or 4k to replace it. they arent gonna honor a warranty when they find radiator cleaner in your tranny

Thats why you get the cleaner out, real fast. I also never said it was smart, it worked though.
