Ok here goes.

My friend bought a '95 eclipse. It was a stupid impluse buy but i guess the price was right. He wants to do some work to it. He is kinda into the show scene and bought a kit for it right away. (he works at a body shop so dont worry about it being put on rice style) I'm talking him into doing some real mods.

Anywho, we compression checked the motor and it's way low. 135psi and spec is 180. He wants to have the motor rebuilt. He is dead set on stroking the motor to 2.4L and installing some kit (which is pretty nice)

so ok, whatever, say he does all this. What kind turbo setup are we looking at? I know he is going to need all the supporting mods, but i'm kinda lost in DSM turbo talk. He keeps thinking a stock turbo will be fine (he is a dumbass) but with the 2.4L motor it will choke it.

Also, is stroking it even worth it? (wow that sounded bad)

thanks,

bobby

what kind fo power level is he looking for? a nice 20g mistu turbo will spool decently fast on a 2.4ltr stroked motor and make around 400whp at higher levels of boost with lil lag. but if he wants to make some decent power...a fp green or fr red is a better choice. i have a friend with a fp green on his stock block 2g. he ran 18psi and make 400awhp and ran in the 11s like that. he also had all supporting mods though...stand alone..ect. with a stroked motor..i wouldn't get anything smaller than a 20g if he strokes it. if he stays with stock displacement...i'd get a 20g too.

ps.....a t-25 is choking the motor in stock form....let alone whne he starts to modify it.

a used car is a used car. if it is awd...its not gonna like 7k clutch drops, but if driven without to mucha abuse...they can handle a lot..all of my friends..including the guy in the 11s are running stock drivetrain right now..besides an upgraded clutch. but for 2 or 3 k...you could get a bullet proof tranny.

while your in the engine ditch the balance shafts..less rotating mass...you will have a lumpy idle but the rpms will come faster and you will be able to run higher rpm's..humm if you can find a 90 6 bolt block.
