well i could have one of two projects on my hands after my t2 is up and running. one is a 1977 Toyota Celica, needs rewired and exhaust needs fixed. Or a 1983 Datsun 280zx which has some problem with the brakes and needs a fender/hood. both run (celica did before wiring took a crap when we were going to pick up pizza)(and who needs brakes when your in a z car right?) and both would cost me about 500 bucks to buy. question which one would make a better restore project or just run car? open to opinions here

I would personnally go with the Celica. I believe you can throw a MKIII Supra Turbo motor (7MGTE) in there.

Go the Celica for sure. The 280ZX is quite possibly the worst Z-car ever made.

Put the 500 in a CD at the credit union, and forget about it.

Most Z enthusiest (sp) say the Z31 300ZX is the worst. The 280Z is considered a classic, not so much as the 240Z, but still a classic that is beautiful and the L28ET is a very well built motor.

I will go with the Z because they make more power even thought they are heavy cars but there are more Z sold than the Celica.

I would probably go with the Z as well. Just prefer the styling.

I nicely restored Z is a beauty... you can also swap a V8 in there... couple guys run those at our local track. One of them is in the high 6's in the 1/8th w/out NOS... very well built car.
