Putting this thread back on topic.... I finally got the right K&N on weds night... installed and done. The only thing I'm doing now is a dynomax catback and tires when it needs it..

The air filter seems to be doing a good job too... I seem to be getting a lil better gas mileage and lil extra throttle response... I'll put it through the big test in May when I drive down to the beach, i was getting about 325 miles to the tank when i first bought it, now i'm hoping for at least 350-375 w/ the motor being broke in, tb spacer, k&n and catback..

I still don't know why you did not go with a Cold Air Intake style setup. It looks so much better, and frees up alot of space in the engine bay. I should take pictures of mine to show you what it looks like.

I want to do alot of things. Just budget is not right on par right now.

I drove the Jeep today, threw the top down, and it was amazing. I love my Jeep alot!! There is a tear about 4 inches long. Dah!!! Duct tape to the rescue!!!!

I really didn't need the CAI..i didnt want the open element...too much cleaning when you off road it...it was more money and the overall gains aren't that much better than my setup, space savings aren't an issue since i dont work under the hood that much...

they have off-road prefilters to cover the open element. you take em off and wash them in a clothes washer.
