I guess I am now no longer an Altima owner. After three years of rally and abuse, the Altima will finally find be replaced as my DD. Since the condition made it only worth $300 in the eyes of the local dealership folks, we are donating it to a charity to with it what they want or potentially turning into an autox project car.

After some bad decisions and the guy I was going to buy a 10AE Turbo II from backed down, we (my dad and I) narrowed it down to cars in the Starkville/Columbus, MS area. The first was a 97 Mustang (v6) (which I tried my hardest to make sure I didn't get). The second is the Rally Beast's replacement:

1997 Volvo 850 T5

2.3L I5 plus baby sized turbo

222hp, 221 lb/ft, 3278lbs

Sunroof, auto, leather, and a bunch of other junk.

Future Mods

Chip (raising boost from 10psi to 17), intake, exhaust, i/c, and upgrading suspension and other junk.

Pics soon if anyone wants to see it (it is just a Volvo).

I like it already. The interior looks like it is straight out of a Mercedes-Benz and it is quite quick stock.

Unfortunately 222hp + FWD + Open Diff + 6in wide wheels = no traction.

I am looking to turn the Altima into a autox/rally project, but if anyone is interested in trading in a running rotary car, I would love to trade. Any offers will be considered.

Ummm, I think the 850's are RWD. Could be wrong though. I guarantee you that car will run until 300k without a problem!

My pops just turned 250k on his, and only replaced the transmission, and the ac condenser/evaporator in it.

No, it is front wheel drive. I think this car was kinda when Volvo started making all of their cars rounder and FWD. I wish there were an AWD model but as far as I know there isn't one.

Congrats on your new car. We've got the same - it's a great DD. Here's a photo (ran seafoam through it, thus the smoke)
