I seriously thought about it as a replacement for the WRX. What Mazda needs to do, is throw that engine in a RWD sedan or a miata.

Does your WRX have lurch/buck problems? Say you are driving in traffic jam... at 25 mph in 3rd, you have to barely keep your foot resting on the gas pedal... the moment you give it a tad more gas the car feels like it bucks like crazy as teh entire drivetrain moves on you. Same thing if you need to slow down... the car bucks again! FUC!!! I HATE THAT! My 03 Legacy GT does that all the time... it drives me nuts!

and it's so damn slow! But teh turning radius, and handling is nice. It feels nimble for a 3300 lbs car (my subaru). Until you mash the gas, that is when you realize it weighs 3300 lbs and it has no power.

Oh and the brakes are crap. I only hit 27,500 miles and already I need 4 brand new rotors, and 4 brand new pads. I had them fixed under warranty when the car only had 3000 miles on it. All four rotors warped and their genius solution was to machine the rotors to the min thickness. I argued left and right w/ the service manager and they said that is warranty procedure for warped brakes. No new rotors. Even though they have just accelerated the wear 100X faster.

GRrrr.. i hate subaru service. And their parts are expensive. It's easier finding parts for a 18 year old rx7 than it is to find parts for a 4 year old Subaru

The MS6 has better build I think. The STi feels like someone took their WRX and assembled it in their garage. It doesn't have that nicely engineered packaged finished feel to it. I do like how it is smaller in size (STI).

Now i'm wondering how the Subaru Legacy 2.5GT Spec B compares to the MS6. On paper they are pretty much dead even. I think some of the UK websites did side by side comparisons and they were pretty equal. The legacy is smaller. But the ms6 is cheaper, and the parts are cheaper too!

Legacy 2.5GT Spec B is selling for 45k CDN

MS6 GT is selling for 39k CDN, base is 36K

I agree with you on all of these points. The brakes are major crap. I think I am on my 3rd set of brake rotors. The service is terrible. I gave up on my local dealer, they were rude, always late, and make it seem like it was an honor that they were working on your car. I now drive over 100 miles to Pheonix for major services.

Overall, i think im VERY lucky. The car has nearly 90k on it, and no major problems. As far as the bucking problems, mine can buck slightly on really hot days. It seems to have gotten worse over the years. What I have found helps, is clean the air flow sensor, intake and reset the ECU. Seems to drive much smoother.

But, needless to say, my next car will NOT be a Subaru.

my mazda dealer is no better- they suck donkey dick and have become one of the reasons I probably wont buy another Mazda.

The MS6 was never meant to compete with the WRX, it was supposed to be marketed as a more upscale car, to get away from that boy racer profile the WRX has gotten.

agreed. The WRX has definetely taken on a "boy racer" stigma. I am looking at a Toyota FJ Cruiser as a new daily driver

For the class/price of car I would also consider:

Lexus IS250 RWD 6 speed. It's a bit slow though... but it's very very nice inside and is very nicely styled... But slow... soo.......

Mazdaspeed6 is the best bet!

Since we aren't 100% happy with Subaru, the spec B is out of the question...

BTW the FJ cruiser automatic gets better mileage than the manual. THe manual is full time all wheel drive, where as the auto is electronically controlled

a IS350 is plnety fast, and not that much more money

Factor in the much better resale and dealer expierence of the Lexus and its a no brainer.

is350 is only available in automatic.. and no awd..

above 5k to me is a substantial difference in pricing.. speed6 sport can be had for 25k..
