Ok, so after 2 weeks of trying to get brake pads from the local subaru dealer for my WRX, they finally realized that the part number they were looking up was superceeded by a service bulletin that calls for a different brake pad part #. Idiots. So I go pick up the pads. What subaru had done, was shave off the leading and trailing edges of the pads! I guess there were complaints about brake chatter, so they shaved the brake lining surace to fix the problem! Look at the pictures, the surface area of the pad is much smaller now.

So now, the marginally adequete brakes on the subaru are going to be even worse....

Actually, less pad area = more clamping force, but also = higher wear. One of those stupid engineering things.

isn't Scott doing a group buy on Axxis pads? He can probably get you a good price on them for the subbie also.
