i had a 1977 Lincoln Continental, and those 460 can make all that metal move pretty fast....i'd say find a Ranger and push the firewall back, and throw that 460 right in there, we're talking speed now!?

or a Bronco, i have a friend that has a 5.0 in his bronco.......



or it could be a really really really big paperweight!

theres a guy around here who somehow shoehorned a 460 into a 5.0 notch. with a huge blower sitting atop it. im surprised the car is drivable. he's making around 6-700hp in it, and there is no way the car will hook up on the street.



i say put it in a stang...

You're mistaken, the 460 never came with a C4. You're most likely thinking of the C6, which was by far the most common transmission found mated to a 460. Also, not every 460 came with a 9", some had 8.8" rear ends. Since this is a Mazda RX7/RX8 page, I would assume you have one or more of either or those, so I would shoehorn one into one of those if I were you. Preferably an RX7, I just like those more. I have seen RX7s with them, so it most certainly can be done, but be warned, you'll need to put a cowl on the hood to fit it. They're very fast in those light cars, and they launch like none other, due to the light weight and excessive torque.



Apex13B, Chevy sucks. It's just a fact of life. Stock Chevy big blocks have less air flow, smaller valves, shorter deck heights (the Ford has only one deck height, which is taller than the long block Chevy), less room for stroking in the crankcase, smaller bores, smaller bore spacing, thinner walls, they have head bolts/studs going through the water jacket (which leads to rust and sometimes leads to a loose head that comes flying off the engine), they have lower RPM ranges, less horsepower, less torque, and usually worse fuel economy than stock big block Fords. Why would you EVER go for the all-around worse engine? I'll tell you why. It's because of all you idiots who spout off retarded comments like, "Sell the Ford and get a real motor", or really any other comment that condemns the better engine. It's a real shame people don't take a good, hard look at the facts and come to their senses by following Ford instead of Government Motors. If you want to see the real king of big block V8s, though, don't look towards GM or Chrysler (although the 426 hemi is neat), take a look at the FE family-based 427 SOHC that Ford made originally in 1967, which made 657 hp and 615 lb ft of torque stock. You can squeeze a lot more power out of these, though, and they were actually used in top fuel drag racing and made around 8,000 hp with the stock block and heads. Chevy has never even come close. If you want a REAL engine, get those 460s. Put them in whatever you like, because they haul in everything. Infact, they've been put into stock vehicles ranging from Torinos to 75+ passenger school busses. There's nothing built as "Ford tough" as the real thing.

if your looking for a car, 69-70 mustang will require trimming, 71-73 it will drop in, plus most full size cars/trucks from the 60's, any car that had an FE engine should be capable of fitting it, now for ford trucks, thru the 70's it should fit with some ease, but into the 80-96 range, the f150 will need a 2" body lift, but the f250/350 will fit it easily, for tranny, you can go c6, fmx, or aod fore ease. for 70's cars its pretty touch and go, most fords ran small blocks from the 70s on up. Also to make matters worse the 460 really didnt make much hp from 74ish on dues to emissions.

I think you should buy both and put them both into a pair of RX7's. I've seen a few FC's with 460 big blocks, but I really want to see somebody put a 460 in an FD, because I love the look of the FD and the grunt of the 460. I plan to do this swap one day. I've seen a 454 Chevy in a Honda Civic, so I'm sure a 460 Ford would fit in an FD RX7.
