The Turbo models were mostly in the SVO models though they also came in some of the GT500 packages back in the early 80's. They gave a bit up to the V8's Well the 5.0 V8's that had the power rating of 225hp. But in the SVO's case they had advanced suspension mounts braking systems and some other goodies that would make them blow away the 5.0 as soon as they hit the turns. The suspension mounts and K members are still sought after by the V8 and road racing crowds. But the SVO's downfall was its price. several several grand more than the 5.0's. The SVO's came with disc brakes front and rear a bi level spoiler dual exhaust of sorts depending on the year and were pretty potent easy to hop up and generally ran around 15 flat. Back in 85 they were running on 16 inch wide rims. Most SVO's today are either stroked or have a hybrid T3/T4 turbo with 3 inch downpiping helping them out which is good for probably low 14's to high 13's with just that alone. Most of them came with Air to air intercoolers. Also the bottom end in these 2.3 turbos are pretty strong and can withstand a fair amount. The aftermarker however is almost non existent. But there are 2.5 2.7 and 3.0 litre stroker kits for the 2.3 blocks. Also a few headers and windage trays and also a pricey aluminum head. Most SVO's on the streets right now are seeing 324 to 330 hp at the wheels with just a few of the mods I have listed. So I hope thaty answers your question! But generally in the 1/4 mile a turbo stock vs stock GT will only give up maybe 1-2 car lengths..... I got a Video of an SVO making a dyno run if anyone is interested or someone lets me upload it somewhere......

The SVO is a nice mustang. My brother almost bought one a few years ago. He said the sonuvabitch was awesome when he test drove it.

Saleens range from 28,000 to 68,000
Engines range from
4.6 N/A 280 hp
4.6 Supercharged Roots style I think it is 360hp not sure
4.6 Lysholm Supercharged Completely redone motor well over 400hp and over 440ft lb of tq. It may not sound like a whole lot but when one was tested with a slipping clutch it still ran the 1/4 at 112mph and in the high 12's.... Z06 territory only problem is that a Z06 is 10 grand cheaper! Plus this bring out a question I thought of last night. What good is the Highend S281-E Saleen if the New Mustang Cobra is going to be sporting 390hp and run the 1/4 mile at 110+ it is only slightly slower but instead of 60G's its only going to be 35!!!

For Rx-7s i like the 93+ the ones with the stock chin spoiler and rear spoiler. I also like the bodies of the 89-92s.
If i didn't have my Rx-7 and wasn't into rotaries i would definately have A fox body 5.0, somewhere 89-92 range, man i love that body style, have to be the ones that look like they have a bodykit though.

I like the new 2002 FD. It is sweet looking. And of course the 2nd Gen 7's
For mustangs I would have to say hands down, Eleanor.

They call them fox body because of the chassis, its a f-chassis. Shared with the fairlane, thunderbird, cougar, etc. Like GM calls the Cutalss, grand prix,el camino, monte carlo a G-chassis. I didnt even know this post was still going, lol. Hey twinstangs- ford admits they advertised the power rating incorrectly, it was advertised something like 20 hp, they said they used a different method. When Hot Rod chassis dynoed a Trans Am, Z-28, and a Corvette, all with the 5.7, they all pretty much dynoed the same, but Gm advertised the corvette ( at the time), as 40 hp more then the other 2.
