LMAO @ SRCE's Zonda fetish. Anyways, that bugatti is rediculous. The only thing cool about that car is I saw it at Laguna Seca doing hot laps, and the idiot test driver looped it and came within 3-4 feet of swiping the concrete wall, which would have totaled it.

aww man, this topic is killing me man... I'm in tears with laughter. Ah gosh. The bike comparison just killed me man. Really hit the head of the nail man.
It's one thing to have a fast car. It's another to have an engineering marvel. Supercars cost so much because there is just that much more that goes into designing them and making them. The overall quality it beyond any other production car. That's a supercar.
That being said, if you somehow have the knowledge, time, and money go ahead and try to build a better car. But it'll end up looking like an exotic. There is a reason why you can double you HP/Weight ratio and not get 2x faster... it's called air... something to think about when building a deathtrap in your garage.
As far as looks go.... I still love the McLaren. I also like the Lotus Espirit, but only for it's retro flare (more like unchaged for 10 years.. although I have little knowedge about the history on these cars... please don't call me stupic. I admit my ignorance, thus couteracting possible arrogance). I also like the looks of the saleen S7 but slow my touge due to saleens recent histroy with issues... lets not go there.
Also... 1.2 million.... I'd rather have 50 good 120 mph cars than one good 200+ mph car. That's just me. But if anyone else would actually buy one, go ahead, nothing wrong with that. But what you pay for insurance could pay the insurance one all 50 of my cars

I saw a new Esprit V8 in Chicago last year. That's a fine little automobile.
Oh, and in response to Poseidon, I think everyone here would rather have 50 decent cars than one $1.3M car, but it's nice to dream about driving something with 1000hp from the factory.

I am really trying to figure out why you are all talking about elises and esprits when they haven't shown up in picture form once in this thread. The yellow spyder is an extremely rare pagani Zonda, maybe you all know, maybe not. In any case, the Veyron has been through 2 production phases since it debuted as a concept and they still haven't been able to build the car reliably or with enough downforce to keep the tail end on the ground. You have to remember, although the car may look cool, if the back end lifts up off the ground at 100 mph you've got issues (ex. Audi TT, VW Beetle, Audi RS6). And, VW hasn't proved that the 16 will hold up for any extended period of time because it is based off of the now troublesome W-8 architecture.
Great idea, and I love Bugatti, but I don't see it happening, and if it does, by that point the design will be so out of date it won't be worth it. As for the best tech being put in the high end cars therefore making them high end, why haven't we seen pneumatic systems on ANY production car as of yet? That would be SICK. Imagine a 4.0 liter V-8 that could rev like that crappy Bussa V-8. And, as for sequential gearboxes, Quaife can make you a six speed fully sequential clutchless transmission for around 25,000, so I still couldn't justify 1 million just for an extra gear.
