Just curious but ever own a ford???



you talk about them with such disgust. But have you ever owned one?

I have owned 2 and both have been pretty good to me. My family so far has owned a total of 6 mustangs...



one managed 278,xxx miles and we traded it in back in 96 it was still running good and not even blowing smoke yet! Only problem was a blown head gasket and a bad muffler.....

My family has had a few of them, the most recent being a 1999 Mustang convertible V6 automatic and a 1993 Thunderbird V6 automatic. Both of them are sloppy, ponderous beasts with a severe lack of finish, styling and class, both internally and externally. Prior to that... a 1984 Thunderbird that I don't remember much and a 197x Thunderbird that I also don't remember much. My friend Matt has owned a 1995(?) Probe GT that had some of the worst interior QC problems of any vehicle that I've seen. He now owns a 1997 Mustang Cobra that, while quite fast (he's running 13's with it, last time I heard), handles like crap compared to my RX-7.

V6 mustangs suck 1st of all....



2nd Cobras dont handle bad they feel worse than there actual #'s This is due to the softer spring rates used on the cobras and the ride height. With a good set of springs sway bars and control arms they will make ya think 2x about that statement. By the way if you want some Class a GT40 or even an 03 Cobra has some class now....

Probes are Cheap....

V6 mustangs well just dont seem as well put together as a GT or Cobra...

plus these are pony cars not exotics... which an FD is practically considered an exotic it seems in most rings now....

I haven't looked into the numbers on the Cobra, but I only said that it handled like crap in comparison to my RX-7. Perhaps a lot of that was feeling, but feeling has a lot to do with how hard you can push a car. If I feel as if I'm about to fly off the road, I'm going to back off, no matter well the car is really doing.



As far as class goes, no matter what tricks the SVT can pull on the Cobra, its still a Mustang at its core. Its just not designed to be a great sports car. All of the SVT enhancements make for a better car all around, but it essentially amounts to lipstick on a corpse. As far as the GT40 goes, if I have to spend 100 Gs for class in Ford's lineup, I think I'd be better off buying a couple of C5s, or five FDs for that matter... or even ONE FD and modding the **** out of it. But I digress.



I also forgot to mention the Ranger that my buddy Cam owned. That thing fell apart in so many ways, its not even funny. He ended up trading it in for a Protege5.



I think maybe my point has been missed here. You asked me if I'd ever owned a Ford, and I told you my experiences with them, all of which have been bad. Now, personally, I think that's enough to back up my opinion that Ford sucks, and that they can lick my sack. I know no matter what I say, its not going to change your opinion, and that's fine. That's what makes this forum great, is that we can all have different opinions, and we can still get along.

it is a nice part about this forum with so many different opinions we do get along pretty well.



I have had good experiances with Ford it is one reason I am loyal to them.

I know some people have had horrible luck with them. I acknowledge this. I started out being raised in a GM family then moved to an import family and switched to Ford in the middle of all of this. Oh well.



Anyway I see your point. the GT40 is much more than a C5 in racing history alone. But anyway yeah for the price of one I would take 2 FD's and an 03 Cobra and mod all 3 of them! lol
