Well, it's not even really a performance car though. Its more luxury than anything else, and the type of buyers that those attract appreciate the predictability and stability of FWD over RWD anyways. However, not like the people who buy those cars even take them anywhere near the point where the drivetrain setup would even matter. I see z4's all the fugging time being driven around by ladies in their 40s who probably never go past 3k rpms and when they drop the top they ALWAYS have the windows up still. Seriously, if you're gonna have a convertible dont leave the windows up.
