Hal sticks a dog between his legs.

speaking of rear end removal, i am purchasing a lsd rear end from an S4 rx7 from Hal, except we ran into one problem while trying to dismount it, its very hard to reach and torque the front mounting nuts for the lad housing. heck Hal even broke a 17m wrench trying to torque it.

question is: is there a better way to get the rear end out of this second gen rx7?

btw our jackstands are under the sub-frame.

we have the two drive shafts disconnected and if we could only get to the two front bolts/nuts... the whole thing would be out and in my garage by now.

any ideas would be helpful

Thanks,

Tom

buy/rent/borrow an 1/2 electric impact wrench and you can drop the entire rear subframe a 10 minutes. i think there are the 2 19mm bolts, the drag link and the struts (and the brake lines). once the bitch is on the ground, you can remove the lsd really easy.....

of course, it is sort of a pain to put it back in...

pull the calipers off the rotors , tie them back to the body of the car, unbolt the shocks from the knuckles unbolt the sway bar from the body of the car remove the subfram retainer nuts then unbolt the subframe unbolt the diff , drop the whole bitch down. install in reverse order just use 2 jacks.
