Has anyone in Washington State been through this before? I have a chance to buy a '74 or 75 REPU. It was bought a number of years ago in California from a tow truck company. It was an abandaned vehicle, the tow truck company towed it in, placed a lean on it and sold it. It was brought up to Washington, but never put on the road. There is paperwork to show the towing, lean and written bill of sale.

What am I going to have to go through with the Wash. Dept of Licensing to get this back on the road? Do I have to try to get a title out of Calif.?

Its also been sitting for two years without being started, is this a good candidate for the autotrans fluid cleanout trick? I hate to see this truck just sit and rot, when I could have it back on the road with a little effort.

Well.. I may not have the answer to your question.. but the best thing to do would be to contact the DMV in your area.. if you have paperwork showing your purchase and when it was sent out to Washington they should be able to register it.. Just make sure the original VIN plate is in the Engine compartment on the pasengers side corner towards the rear of the engine bay..

Usually on old cars there is not too much hassle for registering.. especially if you do not live in California.. because out here my 75 Repu is still expected to pass emissions testing.. hahahah.. like that is ever gonna happen..

Anyway.. if the DMV people cannot help you go talk to a local hot rod builder or shop since they deal with this type of stuff all the time..
