Moses Lake can be a dust-bowl when the wind blows. Wenatchee gets pretty boring and all the roads are too heavily policed for any fun (so the only thing to do is get drunk). Yakima has good hotels and restaurants, the race track, good roads for all kinds of cruising, excellent drive-thru espresso kiosks with killer donuts.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Not only should we do Yakima, but we should also return to the original-style Rally, before all this banquet/ door prizes/ t-shirts/ package bullshit that drove up prices and made things a hassle. Let's just stay together at a hotel and hang out for a weekend. Eat, drink, go for a cruise or three, and be merry. Everyone can have fun at their own pace, and just relax and enjoy, like we did at the first Rally. Do we still know how to do that??.. or do we want to continue having unnecessary headaches and hoopla every year.

Just my opinion, but I prefer the old way.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif

I agree somewhat. The "door prizes, banquet, and hooplah" really do make for an extremely busy weekend, especially when you throw in two car shows and two parades, all in two days. My preference, and several others that I talked to at this last one, would be one car show and parade. The benefit to the other rotor rally specific stuff (banquet, prizes, etc....), is that most of it comes from sponsorship, getting us noticed from a coorperate level, as an organized rotary community. I think that recognition is an important thing, and with any luck it will pay off for us, and them.

I would love to see rotor rally referred to as just that, "Rotor Rally", rather than Apple Blossom. The way to do this, I believe, is to do as it's been said before; break away from riding the shirt tail of another event. But to do that would take more effort from more people.

This past year, rotor rally was handed off to "a new group", and we were all ok with it, and went in with a gung ho attitude on getting it together. But it only lasted a few minutes, then most of us dropped the ball, and left it up to two very dedicated people. Now, when I say this next part, I'm not referring to everyone here, but you'll know who you are. I think we really let down the people who ended up putting it all together for us, the sponsors, and the eager participants.

I see a lot of good ideas being brought up for the furure of rotor rally, and I think they're all possible. BUT, to make it happen, we need to form a team of more than two people, and those of us that decide to get involved need to be dedicated to the cause, and follow through. New ideas are always good, and should be welcomed. If you'd like to see changes made, do us all a favor and tell us what they are, and then help us make the changes.

Id still really perfer wenatchee, maybe what we could do is make a list of tasks that need to be done, well ahead of time, and asign them to members. Give them enough time, that if they end up dropping the ball, we have time to fix their mistake. Youd end up finding people that you know you could count on for the following year as well!

I'd be more than happy to volunteer Matts time.^^^

ABF happens every year with or without the rotor rally and rpnw/inwr.

Grab some buds and get a room. I have heard that a lot of the old timers are tired of wenatchee and would not have gone again this year anyway....

That being said, if rpnw runs a packwood meet, most of the increased gas cost would more than likely be offset by decreased room expense.... just my 2 cents. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif

I am up for apple blossom and nothing else, i had a great time and i want to do it again over in wenatchee. i really dont know anywhere else so i think it only fair to everyone that we do it at apple blossom, since it ahs been done there every year. that is my opinion and if no-one likes it oh well.

I think Kompressor has a great idea with doing something at Ocean Shores. There is plenty of things to do along the boardwalk. Plenty of lodging too. Also the potential of dynoing in the cool ocean air right at sea level would be nice!
