Well, since the RX-Midget is being painted, this is the work I have been doing for my friend Mark. This the turbo setup for his LS-1 powered Ultima CAN-AM kit car. Is there going to be an intercooler? That looks incredibly bad-ass.

You should stop by some time. I will be there all day/night Friday and Mark and I will be there for a while on Sat.

Intercooler will be in the side pod. It is the open area on the far side of the motor in the pic. We will be doing some "wind tunnel" testing this week to make sure it is a good location and to find some other high pressure areas for cold air intake and trans cooling.

Right now everything is MIG'd, but I hope to get a TIG sometime this year so I can do better aluminum work. All the stuff in the pics is just tacked for fitting, it will be fully welded after all of it is done.



I have a decent miter chop saw and the good old Saws-All. I have a plasma cutter in the grage that is borrrowed that I can use anytime, but I may be getting a larger unit of my own soon.

The only thing I see is the piping seems like its kinda thin. I could be wrong. I know that turbo is gonna throw alot of heat into the exhaust and I'd hate to see you do it 2 times.



If the car is at your house I'll definately stop by. Its alot easier to swing past there then it is to get to the peoples republic of Glen Burnie.

It is 16ga as opposed to the std 18ga, so it is a bit heavier. It will also be Jet-Hot 2000 coated. I have a section on the Midget made of 18ga (uncoated!) and it is holding up to the rotory heat which will be about the same as the boosted LS-1's EGT's.



I'll PM you and Drew my #. Call before you come over to make sure I'm there and not out on a part run. I should be there all day Friday and off and on Sat.

Here are some pics of the header. The one tube on the top looks like it is just angled and butted up to the other pipe, but it isn't. It has a small pie piece of curved section to angle it about 4 degrees. Every tube connection is cut square to the radius of the curve and every tube is +/- 0.5" in length of the target length.

Looks damn good. I went to 75-80 friday night then spent saturday mowing grass and putting the tranny, converter etc in the car. Not real easy by yourself with no trans jack or lift. Did it with 2 floor jacks and a lot of arm holding and shimming.

Well I finished up the passenger side header. Pics will be posted tomorrow. You guys in Westminster better hurry up if you want to see this while it is close by. Tail pipes added and wastegate hooked up. Bar accros tailpipes is temp. It was just to hold the tips in place untill I welded them on. I started to weld everything up today. Got all the tailpipes and wastegate done, just need to fully weld the headers tomorrow.

What size turbo is that?

There is a plan for the intake tubes. I/C will probabbly live in the passenger side pod. All ehaust tubes will be Jet hot 2000 coated. Intake tubes will be jet hot silver coated I think.
